Quick question about Alignment

Hi guys,

3 months ago, I dropped my car and the next day I went for an alignment. Car was going straight after then after a few weeks it started moving left. Today, I finally had the chance to go back to that place, short of time, he said it could be because of my tires. So right after I called back the guy said it's my tires ( it's now moving right). Any thoughts?

Thanks you.

Re: Quick question about Alignment

I think he really doesn't know, but doesn't want it to be the alignment. Did he give you a printout of the settings?

Re: Quick question about Alignment

Is the wear pattern different on the front? There has to be a reason why otherwise identical tires (they are the same tires, right?) would cause a problem.

Re: Quick question about Alignment

On a vehicle that has been recently aligned, and experiences what is called 'radial pull'. The first step is to cross-rotate the tires (left to right and right to left on the front axle). If the car then pulls the opposite direction the tire is defective, and the tire will be replaced under warranty if still relatively new. If you have directional tires you cannot cross-rotate them. Other causes for a pull could be the brakes dragging, or a bent suspension part (which should have shown up in the alignment check).

Re: Quick question about Alignment

My 2001 Prelude has always had a slight pull to the left.
Alignments always check perfectly with specs.
My front left tire is wearing on inside.
Taking back to alignment shop Monday and see he says....

Re: Quick question about Alignment

I got a feeling the tire man is going find my alignment specs are still right on and going to tell me I have a problem with my tires, BF Goodrich TA's, really like the ride and looks though...
