Should I keep the prelude sh or trade it?

Currently I have a 98 Prelude SH which I'm contemplating on trading away or selling. I wanted to boost the car but I can't due to the ATTS unit keeping me from boosting higher than 250hp. Is it possible to boost past this or a way to get around it. Or would I have to take the fuse out in order to boost higher? I thought of getting a supercharger however its hard to come by one in my area. Also, the paint on the lude is crappy but I can still get around 3.5-4k for it. I've been offered 3700 for it or a DSM 2g Eclipse GST stock.

The question here is, should I sell it or keep it as it is and wait for a SC to roll by?

Re: Should I keep the prelude sh or trade it?

I believe you can boost way past 250whp, even though it's the most the ATTS can handle. Beyond this HP point it just shuts off. (Basically have a base lude at that point). ATTS is a b!tch IMO, for some reason for me it just never likes to work. It can be a PITA to maintain at times also. Some just swap out an LSD tranny in place of it.

Supercharger=unique. FI is all preference.

If you want to get a paintjob that's all up to you.

I can't stand eclipses, or the people that drive them (It's a Chrysler special). But I'm not here to change your taste in cars.

Honestly sir, YOU are the only one that can answer this question with any sense of confidence. You already know what people on a Prelude forum are going to tell you to do

Re: Should I keep the prelude sh or trade it?

So when ATTS shuts off nothing happens? Just lose the handling? On other forums people said that their trannys began to break if they boosted past 250whp. Thats what I was worried about lol. Also I want the paintjob because I want my lude to look nice lol. Everything thats wrong with my lude is all cosmetic. I'm a function over form guy but its always nice to have a good looking car with the power to back it up :D. I like the eclipse because it already has its stock turbo system installed and you don't have to upgrade as many parts to get a good boost.

Oh yes, I forgot to add I originally purchased the lude for 2800.

Re: Should I keep the prelude sh or trade it?

Well I'm not pushing much more than stock power in my SH so I can't honestly tell you what the ATTS can/cannot handle (also because my gearbox is packing its bags and is on its way out the door). From my knowledge and what I've read on this forum it just shuts off because it recognizes that it can't handle the power that you're trying to put to the road. Do your own research though, don't just take my word for it.

If you get a new paintjob, make sure you spend good money, cause when it starts to fade if you don't, your car will look even worse than it does now.

Like I said if you want the Eclipse then nothing is stopping you, just being a Prelude fan I wouldn't buy it personally. Again it's all good no matter what you decide to do. Like I said, on a Prelude forum you can already guess what people are going to tell you .

Can't you just delete the ATTS? Wouldn't make sense to keep it when you go past 250 less weight. It's up to you keep it boost it and get a good paint job or if you want the eclipse go ahead.

Re: Should I keep the prelude sh or trade it?

If you plan on boosting an H22 past 250hp you are goin to have to build the motor and tranny anyway....pull the SH motor and tranny out and sell it.....buy a JDM H22A with an LSD tranny and start buildin that setup for boost (forged internals rods/pistons /sleeves) (carbon syncro's in the tranny).......it isnt just that simple as throwing a kit at it anyway

I wouldn't boost your car if it was your daily driver. It's just asking for trouble.

^ Don't our cars need the ac and some other stuff deleted to fit the turbo in? That's one reason I will never Boost my car.

I've seen a boosted Prelude with AC still installed. It looks much cleaner when it's deleted and wire tucked but I wouldn't give it up.

Re: Should I keep the prelude sh or trade it?

Thanks for the responses and I know its not as simple as bolting on an ebay turbo kit lmao. I've done my research and all but it seems cost effective to go the DSM route for the power I want, currently have my car on craigslist and getting decent offers.

How much you guys think I could get outta it? I bought it for 2800 from a friend and everything is mechanically well. Only thing bad is cosmetics in terms of paint and bodywork lol. I believe I'm highballing at 4 grand but I've gotten good offers of 3300-3500.
