What should I do first?

Hi just bought a 2001 base and was wondering what I should do first. The only things done to it already is a k&n intake and a front strut bar. Thanks for all opinions.

drop it further!!! lol

i started with my exhaust system, but then again, mine was rusted to ****

but save up money to get something nice, and in the meantime, check the DIY section theres mad threads there to clean up the engine bay, delete whatever you can bear not to have. cruise control, power steering, a/c

then do a wire tuck maybe, relocate battery and fuse box, look into the mount that puts your alternator out of site, cost like 70 bucks, paint your valve cover if its not already nicely painted, and then give your engine bay a nice degreasing. costless stuff to make your engine bay look a hell of alot nicer imo.

theres mad stuff in the DIY section though, check it out.
good luck with your build and post up some pics!!

Re: What should I do first?

intake, it looks nice as hell, way more then a strut bar!

but, lower it more get some coilovers, id suggest Ground Contro Eibach coils. Nice rims, Front lip if you have a lot of $$ you can always try and find a OEM they are so sexy. HID's then strut bar, exhaust w/ headers and I do mean the full exhaust system! Radiator and eventually build it up to turbo. Enjoy

Re: What should I do first?

Timing belt kit if there's not record of it being done in the last 50k. Do all engine seals at same time along with tensioner and all new accessory belts. Also check valve lash while the VC is off. ANd paint it (VC) while it's off. Check vtec soloniod/filter screen. And cam cover cap, those are known to leak.
Plugs/wires/cap&rotor. Fuel filter. Air filter. Trans/coolant/ps/brake system flush & fill. Seafoam the engine and oil change.
I could go on forever about simple maintenence stuff to do to a "new to you" car.

You should upgrade brakes before anything else if you plan on building the engine. Gotta be able to stop fast if you're gonna go fast. Don't need a BBK just get brembo blank rotors and hawk hps pads.

Re: What should I do first?

That looks no like an 1' lowered.

4x maintenance always imported to keep your engine strong.

Put some ITBs and Lower it of course that includes nice rims (white my opinion) OEM lip kit.

Re: What should I do first?

lol just in case you are, dont get confused by all these replys man. to answer your question as far as what to do first, maintenance. and aside from regular stuff like oil change, inspect for oil leaks, and replace whatever seals theyre coming from. since the owner mentioned the timing belt, make that a priority. do the seafoam motor treatment: 16oz can 1/3 in the gas at half tank, 1/3 in the oil (i'd recommend putting it through the dipstick tube) and 1/3 through a vacuum line to the intake while the car is running.

the ball joints caaan wait but if the joints are still good and the boots are just torn then replace them asap.
