Icon8 Defroster Shattered Rear Windsheild?!

So as it states in the title you can guess what happened. What Id like to know is if this is common among BB6's because iv never seen anything like this. I turned on my defroster early this morning and a few min later I heard a loud pop! I looked at where the noise had come from and there it was, my windshield cracked into millions of fragments like a sheet of thin ice. Its still in place, but Im sure that as soon as a bird $***s on it there isn't going to be much left.
Has anyone ever replaced a rear windshield and is it difficult to do yourself? Im so frustrated because idk if its better to keep throwing money into her or.. well I don't want to say it because of the relationship me and the car have built but you know..

I guess I could use some advice on how to go about this, Im a college student so money isn't exactly a very abundant resource for me at the time.. Not sure what to do after this is taken care of either because next thing she might need is an engine swap since theres +200k on it and iv done as much as I can to the engine without going down the REBUILD path in order to fix/ease the various ailments it has

Save you money replace your window. And don't worry about your engine as long as you don't beat on it. It should last. My engine has 210000 miles on it and still running strong.

it would be easier to have someone replace the glass for you. dropping money on the tools and other items you need to get this done will be equal to or more of what you will be spending if you just hire someone. Also, if you do it yourself you risk breaking/cracking the other glass. find someone who has a back glass for cheap and see if someone can remove it and put it on your car.. also see if your insurance company will do it.

I've got a rear glass sitting in my garage I would sell for very cheap but I don't know about shipping glass.
