Start up issues

So here lately my car has been having trouble starting up. Sometimes it'll just turn on normally, others it will click and not turn on at all. If I give it a minute or so it turns on but it's been a pain and I'm wondering what the problem could be. Any ideas?

Re: Start up issues

I have a similar issue.. Mine is difficult to start too occasionally but Im pretty sure it's from air in the coolant system. I recently replaced my radiator and found a small leak that at the time I could locate where it was coming from. Every time I would bleed the coolant, air bubbles would come out which caused a hard start when cold. But as soon as I bled it again to let the air out, it would start with no problems. turns out my leak is coming from a crack in the thermostat case which is introducing air into the system.

You might want to check your fuel/ignition system first. Check plugs, wires, fuel filter and pump. Also the ignition coil too. Maybe others with more experience will chime in too. Good luck!

my 00 sh starts like 1/3 of the time an i replaced battery alternator an spark plug wires with spark plugs of course an starter is still good and when i went to get my front end aligned the guy said it didnt start for him an he mentioned it might be my key because its not a honda key but i was at a drivethrough the other week an noticed my temp was 3/4 the way maxed out i was freakin out drove a lil bit an it cooled down. got home an my coolant was drained bone dry so it looks like i need to fix that leak an hope it fixes my starting problems...?

I'd suspect the main relay.

Re: Start up issues

mine is doing the same thing almost, but its 50/50 on the coolant leaking. have not found the leak yet. already replaced the radiator on it. when you start yours does it start with real low rpms and after a few min idle normal?

Yeah I just replaced my radiator too. My car finally just decided not to turn on the other day so I went and had my battery tested and bought a new one. It's been about 4 days and it did the same thing again, so I took off the terminals and put them back on and it worked. I noticed there was a lot of corrosion on the positive terminal. I wonder if that has anything to do with why my cars been having trouble starting.

Re: Start up issues

I have the same issue and at first I thought it was the clutch switch, but it is most likely cracked solder on my main relay. I am going to pull it and see if it is indeed cracked. Will report back because this issue is annoying. Here is what I have going on:

Car wont start sometimes, all power comes on, engine does not even attempt to turn over. I cycle the power with the key and it turns on.

Also, I am getting battery light and brake light flashing for quick second once in awhile.

So, hopefully the cracked solder is the issue as it should be a simple fix. I will report back.

Good luck to all with this issue!
