my 99' prelude shuts off when i drie it, any solutions?

I've only had the car for about a month, and when i bought it i mistakenly ran Regular Unleaded in it as i wasn't aware the car required Premium. on top of that, i think the gas was polluted as less that five minutes after i filled up i blew an O2 Sensor. the next day the car shut off whilst in motion. i popped it into Neutral and it cranked back over and ran fine. but it happened again a week later and now when the car sits in the heat, it refuses to idol when i crank it over. it immediately shuts itself back off. i started it up today and it ran fine.
anyone have ANY idea what in the hell is going on?

Re: my 99' prelude shuts off when i drie it, any solutions?

last week i was at the gas station and asked for $10 premium. it was a new guy that barely understood english, i look over and see that its set to regular. i got pissed but luckily caught it when it was only like $3 in, and they stopped the pump real quick. didnt get the $3 extra gas for free, but i noticed a little hesitation that wasnt there before i stopped at the gas station that lasted a few days... now every once in a while i get some hesitation, and slow pick up, etc that wasnt there before. my sensor is good, no CEL, but i plan on seafoaming next time i get my oil change, and can afford 4 damn spark plugs!! God I need a good paying job and less bills!!!! cant wait for next year when i finally dont have to pay surcharges and finish school so i can make bank

turn out the igniter has loose terminals and the weight from my keys was disconnecting the power supply. thus, i have to replace it. not as bad as i thought it could be. but my check engine light was triggered by my Cat converter. I cleared the codes and will see i it comes up again. you guys know whether or not i should get a Bosch igniter or get one through Honda. i know that some Bosch products are hit or miss. are their electronics worthy and reliable?

I'm not sure if its the same part that failed but there was a recall for the ignition switches on 97-99 Preludes. You might want to see if that repair was done on your car. if not, they should replace it for free. They did for me and I wasn't having any trouble.

Re: my 99' prelude shuts off when i drie it, any solutions?

When I got my prelude about 3 years ago, it shut off randomly, when accelerating, or even going 60mph. Luckily, the previous owner still had some envelopes/letters from honda in the glove box. The main recall was the ignition switch as stated above.
I gave my local honda the vin number, and it was not serviced. Ever since I got it done, it never happened again

i went to Honda today, they weren't too friendly. luckily i have to specialist mechanics who work primarily on Honda and Acura. im going to replace the switch as it was already done once before by honda. but w/e, faulty parts.
