Stray hose

I was changing out the heater hose on my 99 base model, under the intake air tube when I saw a stray 10 in hose with a square fitting, at the bottom of the engine bay. What is that? Where is it supposed to be?
Will try to post pictures on the weekend.
Thnks, bb626

Re: Stray hose

Is it a clear orange tube?
I had a similar situation... it ended up connecting to the Fuel Evap Canister.

Re: Stray hose

Yeah it's for the evap canister like the other guy said...or charcoal canister as they call it around here.

Okay, here's a pic of the hose. I looked around the immediate area, but found no place, or canister to plug it in to.?
Any ideas?

Re: Stray hose

It goes on the passenger side, connects to the little black box under your intake behind the battery. Im told its a drain tube so only one end will connect. Im not sure what end.

Re: Stray hose

Ugh, I can't find a canister that this connects to. I've looked at some canisters online that have the orange fuel evap tube connected, but nothing seems to match up under my hood.
I just bought the car last week (my first car ), and I'm sure this tube hasn't been connected for quite some time. I originally found it doubled-over (kinked), and stuffed in the "corner". Any chance it's having a negative impact on the vehicle, by being disconnected?
If anyone comes across some remedial, new to Lude canister/evap tube pictures, please post-em up for me.

Thanks for all the (hopefully) continuing help. Glad I decided to join the ZONE amongst all the others.

Re: Stray hose

Alright here's what you have to do:

Jack up your car so you can get under it and look for the area where the evap canister is. The tube should connect to a plug in in the back side of the evap canister. It is easier to spot when under the car. The evap canister is right under the cruise control module and fuse box. If I remember correctly the evap canister (from under the car) is positioned near the cat (or where a cat should be).

Re: Stray hose

Or you could say screw it and worry about it later. it's not needed.

Re: Stray hose

Then it's settled. I'll wait until the next time it's up in the air, and go looking for it's home.

Thanks again,
