Rattling noise

Anyone ever had this noise? I get it when i'm at 1k-2.5k RPMS. Its like something is rattling. I couldn't quite figure it out yet, but whenever i am near those RPMS it'll rattle. My dad thought it was coming from my tranny, but i thought it was coming from my exhaust system. Maybe something bobbling around in the cat? I have no idea. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem?

OH BTW, my car had a lot of acorns in it, like in the panels, and under the hood, and we also thought there might be one in there?

Thanks!

Re: Rattling noise

Possibly the catalytic converter heat shield. or one of the heat shields for the header/exhaust system.

Your downpipe bracket could be loose as well.

If an acorn were to be in your exhaust - it would be after the catalytic converter due to a mouse dragging it in or something. Wouldn't make much noise though.

Looking outside of the exhaust area - there are A LOT of things that it could be. Just listen carefully while someone revs the car

Re: Rattling noise

I had pretty much the same problem. When I had my stock exhaust, one of the muffler tips came loose and rattled around 2k rmps. Tightened down the 10mm bolt that holds it on and voila!

Re: Rattling noise

i have the same issue, i took my car to honda and they told me it was my engine. i have a video of what the tech was saying. I need to figure out how to get it from my iphone and upload it to the forum. At first i thought it was the cat but it wasnt the exhaust at all. fyi im a total noob when it caomes to fixing cars so i could be mistaken.

Re: Rattling noise

I had that noise too at certain RPM's. It was something in the exhaust system (heat shield, cat, flex pipe, or something) it was so annoying. So I got a full new exhaust system lol

Re: Rattling noise

Alright, so i found the certain RPM's that i can hear it best. I can hear it best at like 1100-1500 RPMS because the engine doesn't over power it too much.

My dad tried to trace down the noise while i revved it, and he thinks that its most likely coming from the heatsheild/header area because thats where its loudest. But he also said that it could be inside my engine just like NLC mechanic said. Ima ask my uncle to take a look at it, because hes a mechanic and see if he can tell me anything more.

Re: Rattling noise

WHEN A CAR MAKES A NOISE ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO MAKE, ITS A SIGN THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. ITS JUST LIKE WHEN YOUR BODY HAS A SYMPTOM LIKE A RASH OR SOMETHING. I WOULD GET IT CHECKED OUT BEFORE IT TURNS INTO A HUGE PROBLEM. SORRY FOR THE CAPS ITS JUST QUICKER TO TYPE.

Any CEL lights showing? I'm having the same problems. At first I thought it was my O2 sensors but it turns out I needed to get a new cat.

So you clearly understand that your post stated the obvious without lending any helpful tips.
