tdc and crank pos. sensor opinions

I took the lude out today and got a knock sensor code... i figured this was due to my wet compression test [adding oil to cylinders to see if compression raises after a low dry test].
Which it did... but anyways after leaving oreilys i washed the car and while pulling into the wash i bottomed out the front end on the drain grate in the wash. It hit hard. After i left the car started running like crap, it was backfiring, sputtering, no to little throttle response, and the car would die. I then pulled cel no. 4 and no. 8. Crank angle position and tdc. What is the tdc sensor and what couldve happened to make these sensors go out. The bump? Or could it be my distributor cap.

TDC is top dead center sensor, it is part of the distributor I think. You CPS [crank sensor] might've come loose from the bump but I doubt it.

Re: tdc and crank pos. sensor opinions

Yea i kinda doubted it as well but with my luck who knows... could my timing be off? When i reset ecu it runs fine until the light pops back on. Could the sensor just be malfunctioning and putting the car in limp mode? Also my distributor cap is cracked reeeeaaaly bad could this have some cause to the sensors malfunctioning. I think i a have an msd would i need to replace it with the same or could i use oem.

Thank you for the reply its about impossible.

Re: tdc and crank pos. sensor opinions

take a look at the senor and see if its plugged in all the way. Then look for corosion on the wiring. It could also be that it is actually worn out. Check the voltage and make sure its within specs..

Re: tdc and crank pos. sensor opinions

If your dist. cap is cracked, is there a chance the car wash got water into it?

Those sensors are on the oil pump... NOT THE DIST. if they go badd then yes you got a problem. mine is bad and i have still yet to fix it so the Lude sits.

Do these sensors go out by themselves regularly?
