$3500 good deal for 98 prelude?

I was browsing for 4th gens as a project car and this 5th gen 98 prelude showed up. The body looks like it is in good condition but the only problem is the power windows, locks, and mirrors don't work. Moon roof works fine. Do you guys think the wires could be unplugged? Has 220k miles. Going to drop in a h22a in it if I pick this up.

Prelude 1998 5 Spd 220K

Re: $3500 good deal for 98 prelude?

It seems like he's trying to recover all the costs of the new transmission. The price seems very high to me. (Im basing that off the fact that I bought my 98 Prelude with 180k on it and no problems for $2800)

sounds like someone else's headache. if youre gonna drop in an h22 and have the mechanical ability to troubleshoot everything then go for it. definitely high on the price though

I don't get why he would replace the tranny and then want to sell it right away?? Somethings fishy.

Re: $3500 good deal for 98 prelude?

answer's simple: CEL. 90% of the time means it wont pass emissions. Sometimes yiu just want to recoup your losses because it has 220k. No headache=priceless

Re: $3500 good deal for 98 prelude?

I got mine 98 Auto SS with 140 k miles for 3 thousand, everything works great on the car super clean interior, transmission is nice and smoot so far LOL, but when I bought it replaced water pump, belts, oxigen sensors, wires, spark plugs because I like to know what I'm driving. I would suggest not buy it that can be a pin in the butt. Just my 2 cents

Re: $3500 good deal for 98 prelude?

Don't do it. I paid 3500 for a 2k5g with 142k bought and owned in Texas...let some spoiled rich kid convince his parents he needs this unless you can talk him down to around 2200
