PS and VSS

when my speedo went out on my 5th gen. i threw a cel, i just pulled the vss off and cleaned it and it works fine. the 2 hoses coming off of the vss are not connected to anything. they were cut off and plugged, so there is no fluids going to or from the vss at all. is this a problem? the vss works fine now, i put over 100 miles on since i cleaned the vss. im just wondering if i should connect the hoses or not.

Re: PS and VSS

your title is "PS and VSS" but i'm a little lost on what you're referring to

I know the sensor on the steering rack connected to the power steering line is not needed if you don't have power steering. It won't have any effect on your speedometer.

Are you referring to the vss on the transmission?

yes, i heard that the vss on the tranny runs off the power steering. but the 2 hoses right below my vss are cut off and plugged off. my speedo works since i cleaned the vss, but there is no fluid running through it. unless them hoses are for something else. i just want to connect them hoses to whereever they need to go, if it needs to be.

Re: PS and VSS

The power steering is not in any way connected to the transmission or anything on that side of the motor. It is just (2) lines - the 1 that runs over the valve cover into the pump and back to the steering rack, and the 1 that goes from the resi to PS cooler to steering rack.

Can you take a photo of the lines you're referring to? Is your car an Automatic or an SH?
