Icon11 im freakin stumped!

So my engine is acting funny (h22a4). It will turn over but not idle unless I feather the throttle a little bit... but this does not always work, most of the time it just dies Right after startup. And even if I get it to idle after feathering the throttle it only idles at 500 rpm or so, it sounds really rough and is almost choking out. It will only idle until I press the throttle again and then it will die immediately, my only cel was a code 41 for my upstream o2 sensor, heater circuit malfunction, which I don't even have a sensor in right now anyways, could the missing sensor cause it to die like this? I just got done cleaning my whole intake, egr valve, and egr ports. I thought this would fix my problem. Has anyone else had this problem... please add any thoughts if any. Thanks y'all.

did you remove any of the sensor on the throttle body? and yes a missing sensor can cause all kinds of issues

Re: im freakin stumped!

the absence of the sensor (or presence of a bad one) will cause the ecu to protect the engine..... which would explain your issues. If you plan on NOT using o2 sensors, you need to do a resistor mod in place of the sensor. This will fool the ECU into thinking nothing is out of the ordinary. I'm not going to look this up for you, you should be able to google it. Otherwise an IACV could cause similar problems you're experiencing.

Re: im freakin stumped!

Yea I Google everything it doesn't talk back, just gives me answers and most of the time takes me to this forum where in the thread someone is just asking about my same problem. I replaced my o2 sensor today as planned! Car sounds way better. And no more check engine light. But the car is still acting the same in the dying and rough idle aspect, I've cleaned my whole intake about 800 times (including iacv). I got a compression tester today and cyl 4 measured 60 psi sooooo I guess its something more serious, I had to stop there and will resume within an hour or so.. I know 60 can't be good, but what is proper compression psi for a pretty much stock h22a4? Don't I already Googler for the answer to that..... jeeez :-D

Re: im freakin stumped!

Ok so i finished the test. Cyl 4. 80 psi
Cyl 3. 80 psi
Cyl 2. 100 psi
Cyl 1. 70 psi

After i put everything back together i started her up and she bad like usual and tried to die... while running i unplugged the two vaccum lines on the back of the intake mani. Right by the throttle body and now she freakin idles perfect.... idk whats goin on... but if i rev a little high the rpm will drop real low for a sec. Then go back to abt 7- 900 rpm. Any input? The two hoses run to the cruise control and the intake control diaphram. Also still worried about my compression.

Re: im freakin stumped!

The vacuum lines behind the IM next to TB is the one for intake control solenoid (far left close to drivers side) and the other goes to the cruise control actuator (far right). My guess is that its ICSV becuase that goes with the intake system and that's always operating if you have an aftermarket intake that vacuum line is supposed to be plugged with something similiar to the one one the middle which comes plugged from factory. I believe on an injen CAI install instruction sheet it was 3 or 5mm cap. If you have a stock intake check that line and couplings for damage or a leak somewhere

Re: im freakin stumped!

I found the diaphragm that the hose ends up running to for the intake and the actual diaphragm is just sitting under my air filter with the hose wrapped around it.
