Bog after shift

Well When driving my '97 sometimes after shift the engine bogs and then lurches . its really hard to explain and its hard to take a video especially since its radom! The car also smells like its running rich, very rich.

ive heard about resetting the ECU would that harm my car? Could that possibly be it? [never been reset] and if so, how hard/long will that take? [DIY guide?]
timing belt looks brand new. and was recently changed
TPS sensor?
Injectors?

How would i go about diagnosing this? suggestions?

Reset the ECU--- remove the "clock" fuse or remove the negative terminal on your battery for, oh, about 10 mins or so.

Restart the car, dont turn on your radio or anything electrical...let it idle and then put back in your favorite radio stations again and fix the time on your clock

TIP* if you have the stock cd player, make sure you have the security code to enter once the ECU has been reset.

TPS can cause that bogging, yes. Try cleaning your IAC valve...in my sig.

EDIT:OH, and you can take your car to autozone, or pepboys, advance auto etc and ask them to read what CODES you are throwing as well...

If you havent reset your ECU, im pretty sure it's stored. --has it blinked on before?

Go check it out, it's usually free at Autozone.

nope, ive had the car for about a month now, never throw the light, and the woman we bought from was original owner, and by looking at her extremely well kept service records [that i now have] that kinda thing woulda flipped her out.

Think simple. Check the vacuum line going to the FPR. If it's broken the FPR will think the engine is under load and increase fuel pressure. It's a simple starting point.
