Suspension help

Hey guys need some help with a 01 prelude sh. I am doing a friends car an he ordered struts for the regular prelude and not the SH model. I got the rear installed fine, but the front struts are too short for the spring. I matched the struts next to each other and there is about .5"-1" difference, so when I installed the spring it seats crooked.. Anyway oter way I can still install these? Maybe springs from a regular non sh model?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Suspension help

Did you put them on backwards? Like the front springs and the rear springs.

Re: Suspension help

No we aren't putting lowering springs on unfortunately. Would regular prelude model springs work? We are trying to avoid spending more money..

Did everyone miss this? The SH has different suspension than the Base model.

He ordered the wrong suspension, no way around it.

Although the rear springs/struts fit, they are not the correct spring rate/valving.

Re: Suspension help

Yeah I understand he ordered the wrong struts, but we can't return them anymore... So question now is what if I get some used springs from a base model prelude, will I then be okay?

Re: Suspension help

the SH suspension is shorter overall. I have installed tein coilover that came off an SH on to my Base prelude. I dont think it would have a problem with its seating. Try double checking your work.

Re: Suspension help

Hmm okay. Well when installing the fronts and all the whole spring had to be almost fully compressed it got to the point where I couldn't tighten them anymore.. Then I finally got it on and top bolt and the whole spring was crooked like it was too big for the strut

Re: Suspension help

Base springs prob wont work either. Thats why the make different sets for Base and SH. Many suspension companies dont make springs or struts for the SH for some reason... I would sell the set you bought (since you cant return) and get the correct ones. Just sayin.

Re: Suspension help

try cutting the springs? I know it's not anywhere near the greatest idea but looks like it could be one of your only limited options seeing as how you do not want to buy anything else or can not take any parts back.
