New wheels

I'm thinking about throwing some new wheels on the 'lude.

What size do you guys stick with if you don't lower the 'lude? I think a gunmetal rim would look good. What do you think?

Pete

Re: New wheels

Either silver, black or gunmetal like you said would look pretty nice. The biggest is 17's and looks okay without a drop, but if you like the way it all looks now just get 16's again and the same tire.

Re: New wheels

I personally think that if your stock height, the SH wheels look the best. Even if your dropped they still look good. Actually I'm thinking about looking for a set of SH wheels.

Re: New wheels

Keep them stock. If i were you maybe other oem stock wheels. RSX-type s wheels, type-r, etc would look good at stock height.

Re: New wheels

Actually if I were you, I'd just use the money you want to use to purchase wheels and use them for springs/coils. Unless that is you don't wanna go lower, but that's just my opinion. I really like a stock looking lude dropped on SH wheels.

Re: New wheels

If you should upgrade, get Base TL rims, they're forged aluminum, RSX 17's wheels from the type s, S2K club CR rims, and the TL type S with the honeycomb design are enkei, also good rim. There's more, but those look great on 5th gen preludes.

This sums up my opinion about wheels.

All those look good, but all except the TL Type-S are slightly overdone. Motegi wheels always look good. You could either check those out on their website or on Tirerack.com where you can see them on your lude(well, a generic lude of your color) before you buy them.

Re: New wheels

No sh rim are 16s like base rims. Some people think there wider too but their exactly the same. Another OEM option is civic SI rims forgot the year but I know two sets look nice with the prelude.

Re: New wheels

AP1 Wheels look great on 5Gs, but for the rear wheels (the front wheels and rear wheels are actually different widths and offsets) you have to use a 5-10mm spacer. Other wheels that I think look good are Enkei J10, Enkei EKM3, Enkei Raijin, XXR 527, MB Battle, and the Sparco Assetto Gara. Also, I'm pretty sure all Honda OEM wheels are made by Enkei, my AP1s are and the steelies on my old Integra wear the Enkei stamp.

Re: New wheels

In my opinion. After market wheels only look nice when the car is dropped. I had some cheap brand fastwheels and I painted them gold so they went well with my white prelude but my car was slammed. If I were you, I'd rock some CSX Type-S wheels or something. They look very nice with the Prelude. 17 is the ideal size and that's what I would recommend unless you're doing drastic stance mods, then 18x8 look great.

Re: New wheels

17's give you good tire size choices EG 205/45-17, 215/40-17 or 215/45-17 and less ride compliance compromise so try and find a 17" wheel you like.

OE wheels are 6.5 with 55mm offset so try find a wheel that's close. There's not lot of clearance on both the inside and outside.

As for wheel color it's like women we like who we like. I think black contrasts too much, silver won't stand out from the body color so I'd go grey or bright satin to get some contrast.
