Engine type help

Hi chaps.

I just bought my 5thgen and am going to change the timing/balance belts, tensioners, cam and crank oil seals and water pump soon.

Now on Ebay USA there is a kit for sale with the above items as well as cam cover gasket, cam cover washers and spark plug seals.
The ebay kit is about 80 with 50 shipping.
The cheapest I can get a belt kit(belts+tensioners) trade price ex VAT is 130, then 30 odd for a water pump.
So it makes sense to get the kit from the US.

Now to my question, the seller of the kit state it is for the 2.2VTEC H22A1 and H22A4 engines(155 round tooth belt), my engine is a H22A5 engine.
As far as I can tell the only difference is that the A4 is the US market engine and the A5 is the UK/Europe engine, the main engine components are the same.

Can anyone confirm this for me as obviously I don't want to spend 130 on the kit from the US if it isn't going to fit my car.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Ben

Re: Engine type help

If it's not a Honda timing belt kit. I would not buy it. I spent $415 on my timing belt kit and all from Honda.

I spent ~$415 for my timing belt, h23 timing conversion kit, balance shaft belt, cam seals, cam seal plug, power steering belt, alternator/ac belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, exhaust valves, valve seals, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, oil & oil filter. Gotta be shop savvy :)

Re: Engine type help

I would stay away from ebay when buying that kind of stuff. Honda OEM is the only way.

Re: Engine type help

I am not going to bother with a manual tensioner, I'm not convinced with them.
I won't use a Honda timing belt, I have never fitted a belt from a main dealer and I have never had any trouble.
The belt on it is a dayco and its been fine for 60,000 miles and 9 years.

Re: Engine type help

Oh I forgot to mention that included the manual tensioner from Kaizenspeed.

You're not going to get the manual tensioner? Why is that? You do know that the h22 is notoriously bad for causing the pistons to hit the valves all due to the factory auto tensioner? It's a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. If you wanna risk it, then go ahead.
