Halo Projector Headlights?

Hey guys, as some of you know, my headlights are pretty damn oxidized. Lighting sucks at night especially with my completely tinted windshield, it makes it twice as hard to see on a back road. I plan on buying headlights very soon but not sure which ones to buy. I was wondering if anybody has these and what do you guys think about these headlights? 8000K HID 97-01 Honda Prelude Dual Twin CCFL Halo Projector Black BLK Headlights | eBay

I also do want Depo headlights but these wouldn't look to bad on my car I think since I basically already have the murdered out look. I wanna run either 6k or 8k in my headlights, my buddies say 6k is good because they run that but I wanna try 8k. What do guys recommend?

Bought it like that. Thought about removing it but I kinda like the look during the day. Although it sucks ass at night. It also helps the glare at night from oncoming traffic.

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

the halo headlights are hit or miss with the halo rings burning out sometimes. i have had three different sets have the halos burn out on one side or the other. plus the light out put is not that great. i would go with oem style depos and get them retro fitted later on down the line if you want projectors with hids.

this is the halos on my car with hid with output

oem style depos with retros with output

How much did the retros cost you if you don't mind me asking? I'd love to have me a set of those

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

I will never understand the halo fad. The angel eye lights too. Meh.

For 500.00, you can get regular depots (have them clear coated) and get "hella black magic driving lights", put them through the lower bumper valences, lighting for 150-300ft down the road.

You could also grit out the oxidation. Start with 800grit sandpaper, wetsand with soapy water, rinse, repeat for 5-10 minutes. Then move up to 1000, repeat. Then move up to 1500 or 2000 grit. Dry well, usually blue shop towels. Then use clear coat then after drying time has passed, take a blow dryer to the paint, 5-10 each lamp. Takes about 4 hours no stress, comes out show quality.

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

Get depo's and run 6k hid's in them. 8k is too blue imo and causes more people to high beam you lol. That HID kit that comes with those halo's is most likely some no name cheap hid kit and will go out pretty quick.

A 5 year old can do it lol. If you get a good HID kit it SHOULD be plug n play if it isn't keep looking for one that is, most are plug n play though. Just connect the hid into the ballast then into the orginal wiring. I mounted my ballasts right behind my headlight and then your good to go.

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

For the money the halos can be a great deal, im on my second set..one of the first set i bought completely melted, i believe the shop wired it badly. I suggest eagle eyes brand, compare prices..i wouldnt get a set that was way lower than the others. I bought mine for about 180.00 before shipping. Had a reputable shop install 6k digital h.i.ds. They look amazing. I did the same for the fogs too. I will be posting pics soon. Also any aftermarket lights and even oem should be examined for gaps in the seams. Its simple to add silicone sealant to ward off leaks.

I'm actually thinking about Depo and HID's first then retrofits later down the road. :)

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

If you are looking to save money, I would go with depo and HID at first. At least it would give you a much better light output versus oem bulbs. Try to hand pick your projectors and etc for future retro. It would be cheaper to gather your parts since you got the time to do so.

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

Halos suck plain and simple. They are cheaply made with pour light output. Save your money and do it right the first time and save your self some headaches.

The output was decent on mines. But its the halos that suck and give out.

Re: Halo Projector Headlights?

Retro's are amazing. I would recommend them highly. I had Depo's with TSX projectors. Best headlights I have ever used. Been driving my parents 08 BMW 328i and the output on those aren't even as good as my TSX projectors.

My recommendation is to get the Depo black housing's for now and rock them. Research your options for projectors. The cheapest option is Mishimoto projectors and they're the easiest to mount. They bolt on, screw together and then it's just the levelling you have to deal with. I've used those for multiple civics and accords. Stay away from the fancy auto aiming, specifically the FX35/45 projectors.
