Surging???

Anyone else have this problem. Every time I come to a stop, my engine starts surging from about 1100 rpms up to almost 2000 rpms. Anyone know what is going on? My accord used to do this(CB7). It drives me nuts! Please help me stop this problem!

Try cleaning your IACV, that should do the trick.
I had a CB7 too...it did the same thing...

I am having a similar problem with my 97 SH... it surges, and sometimes dies while stopping with the clutch pressed in. I am guessing it has something to do with the short ram intake and the air intake bypass control solenoid. Has anyone had luck capping off the bypass control valve or completely removing it?

well my "optima red top" crapped out, won't even charge... guess it'll be a while before I can see if it is any of the things everyone's been talking about. Has anyone else had a problem with the optima batteries?? It is cold here but I don't think that would be it!! it is like 36F any one have similar problems? Charger starts and then it starts flashing to check connections.....

I did clean the connections, turns out while I was moving from TX, to MD, to KS, (military) the minimal amp draw sucked the life out of the optima beyond it's useful range. Then we got here to KS and it is so cold that it cut the battery deep, and I couldn't revive it. My Lude is not a daily driver. It is in every sense of the word a Project Car. I replaced it yesterday and will be working on it today, I will try to clean the IACV, check the FIV, and ohm out the TPS just to see what I got to do.

I got the problem fixed. It was the fast idle valve(IACV). Now it only surges about 3 times and then returns to idle. While on the topic of optima red tops, way too expensive! I looked at getting one and they wanted $200. Not worth it too me. I spent $76 and got one with more cca and a longer warranty. They may be worth it, but just a year ago, they were only $115.
