Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

What are your guys opinions on the OEM mud guards on our Preludes? My Prelude didn't come with them but I recently saw another Prelude with them on and I kinda liked the way it looks but also like the look without them. So I searched craigslist and found a guy selling some oem mud guards for only 30 bucks and thought I'd take on that offer, but before I buy them how do you guys feel about them? I thought I could buy them put them on and if for some reason I don't like them just resell them.

Re: Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

I like them..they keep alot or dirt and mud off my doors. they don't stand out much like a body kit so it would be the last thing i notice when looking at another Lude. here's some pics with my Mud flaps

Re: Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

I don't think it looks too bad. Im hoping the guy didn't sell them already Im gonna talk to my dad about it and see what his opinion is and I'll most likely go for it and buy them. For 30 bucks it's a steal allthough it doesn't come with mounting screws. Anyone know where I can get some?

Re: Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

Umm...only thing i can suggest is a dealer. Please don't use any drywall or sheet metal screws to hold them on. too many people use wood screws on cars..i've done it a couple times but it was a neccesity.

lol you will need more than a 1.5-2" drop to drag mud flaps on "stockish" struts. Unless you're running SS or FF slammed you should be fine.

I had a bodyshop paint them for me when they painted my OEM lip kit sides and rear. The mudflaps won't fit with the lip kit so I have not installed the sides/rear yet.

Re: Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

It's funny, I just took mine off two weeks ago and I'm loving how it looks. I didn't like how water, salt, grime and random bits of debris get stuck between the body and the flaps. If you get a lot of snow, they are like big scoops that collect it as you drive too.
I also took off the rubber wheel well guard strips over the back wheels (body shop recommended that to help prevent rust in the quarter panels).
If you put them on be aware that the edges of the flaps may rub away some of your paint as the years go by.

Re: Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

I actually don't like the mudflaps too much to be honest. I been wanting to take it off but haven't had time yet. And I also only have the rear mudflaps? As for the mudflaps dragging, I scrape every time going up the driveway so I guess I'm low enough :)

Re: Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

I decided not to get them, I've been reading around and like stated above it rubs and makes your paint kinda messed up under and traps dirt water etc to start rust.
