Exedy Stage II clutch kit.. anyone running it

So if you read the Texas region post you know my Auto Trans is going.. I know reallll big shock there. So 5spd swap it is.. and time to start making checks off the part list. Going to try and get the exspensive stuff out the way first.

This is the clutch kit i'm looking at and wondering if anyone is running it.

EXEDY Globalparts Corporation | High Performance and OEM Clutches and Flywheels

also considered an unorthadox clutch kit though I have yet to find the torque specs. Odd to not have that listed but Ill find it im sure.

070631416 Unorthodox Racing Sport Pro Clutch Kit (Sprung Hub 6-Puck Disc) for 97-02 Honda Prelude at Andy's Auto Sport

After that is Flywheel.. Ive seen a few people running the Fidanza Aluminum fly which is 8lbs. I haven't done enough research to understand the what differenes the LB percentage creates.

Thanks for any advice especially by those running the parts.

Re: Exedy Stage II clutch kit.. anyone running it

i just finished my swap and for my clutch kit i did the exedy stage II and fidanza aluminum flywheel, so far no complaints. i usually go with competition clutch but i decided to try something different and it is pretty good. been driving for about 300 miles now.

wow.. thanks car.. damn didn't think I'd find someone that did a swap annnd did the exact setup I was thinking. How is the stiffness on that clutch. Also who did you end up purchasing through? I've seen prices from 388 to 460 on the web.. oh and one for 700 but that guy is smoking some serious amounts of crack lol Did you do your own swap?

Re: Exedy Stage II clutch kit.. anyone running it

Not the exedy, but i have the Competition Clutch Stage 2 kit on a fidanza 8lb flywheel and love it. Grabs hard but smooth at the same time.

Also if at all possible its always better to go with local shops over ordering. warentee work, returns, and so on will always go easier. plus it helps out your local shop. And if you havent already i'd find a speedshop/tuner you like and has a good rep. alot of times if you can get close with the guys, they'll hook you up. i know mine does. Err.. did, they closed.. lol

Re: Exedy Stage II clutch kit.. anyone running it

I have the exedy stage 1 clutch and fidanza flywheel and ive had it for a month and its done me pretty good ive put about 1500 miles on it and its pretty awsome. idk why you would go witha stage 2 im running 210 to the wheel and its doing just fine. make sure you get ARP bolts for the flywheel and pressure plate and medium loc-tite and replace slave and master cylinder it was a pain cause i didnt do it so i learned the hard way. Bleeding the clutch was such a pain in my arse.

If your gonna beat on it, i'd say go with the stronger stage 2. the stage one will wear faster.. I had one for a about a year and half of beating on it before it went out.. Just my .02
