Bent my rim :/

So Sunday morning I decided to drive separately to a picnic with my whole family. Well on the way there, I was following my parents and it just happens that just one street before we make a turn, a rock happens to be right in the middle of the road. Well I didn't see this "rock" that was laying there because I simply looked over my shoulder at that time for a lane change and next thing I know, I hear a thump and my steering wheel jerked like a mofo lol. My car bounced really hard and I looked in my rear view mirror but didn't see anything. Well I got to the park area and noticed my tire was shaking tremendously. Parents and I parked our cars and dad ask me "How the hell I managed to hit that rock?" Well I simply told him that I was in the process of the lane change and didn't see it. I told him that my tire was shaking badly and he said I could have bent my rim the way I hit it and how fast we were going. I tried to make myself feel better and told him it's only the tire ha. Well my cousin and I leave a couple hours later and I walk out to my car and see my tire if half flat. At this point I think it's my tire and I'm like "and he thought it was my rim lol". Well I change for the "donut" and look at my wheel. What do I see, a bent rim. At this point, I'm speechless. Well then yesterday I took it out to a local wheel shop to see if they could unbend it, they said they could for a fee of $70 which wasn't bad. They call 2 hours later saying the rim cracked. Well I go pick it up and they tell me about another local welding shop that may be able to weld it back together. I take it out there and they said "Oh Sh.t' that's bad" lol. They told me they could weld it but they don't guarantee it would work and it would charge about $150. So at this point I'm like damn, I need a new rim. Well bought one at discount tire yesterday for $120. What sucks is I just bought these rims brand new in April and already bent one. :/ sorry for the long story but I just felt like sharing all the details lol

Haha ACT A FOOL! Thanks man, idk tho, this car has really been pushing my limits lately, first was the radiator, then the passenger window and side mirror, a door ding, complete engine swap, this rock, and now my clutch is acting up. It's always sucking in and getting stuck which I think is my clutch pump. As for boat anchor, not a half bad idea lol

Re: Bent my rim :/

Ouch! One of the things Im going to be terrified of when I get new rims. Sometimes I think I should stay with my base rims to avoid the stress lol.

Re: Bent my rim :/

Definitely a good excuse for some new wheels ;) it could of been a lot worse than just a bent rim, you could of lost complete control. Dam rotas? Just look on craiglist for some new wheels or try finding anew wheel depending on what kind you have you might be able to find it. This happened to me(almost) this past week only thing is that the rock was right in the middle of the road, thankfully it was just small enough to not scrape anything underneath.

Re: Bent my rim :/

Well, what can I say? That sucks man, sorry to hear.

AND they cracked your rim!? Guess what? Who cares if they tried to fix it, they did the job, and they did it wrong. What the hell? Go in there and be AS CIVIL AND PROFESSIONAL as possible, tell 'em you want your money back or some sort of compensation. If they don't want to work with you, raise hell, tell 'em you'll make sure you broadcast 'em all over the blogosphere, and that you're willing to make the effort to make their shop look bad (just to keep 'em in check.. you're the customer here. You're the one giving them money). I don't know exactly what happened, but you sound like you're a young dude and shops tend to try to take advantage of us "young" folk.

Go in there, spit a few wise words (follow your dad's advice or go in there with him), and see what happens.. the worse they can say is "No." That's when you let 'em know it's their fault for not doing the job you paid them to do. They gave you something you didn't pay for (a cracked rim) and you're not going to bitch 'em out? Psh, let me go in there for you.

Kinda like the dude that installed my LCD. One of the screws was too tight and a little tiny crack began to propagate out onto my dash. So I go in there saying "Yeah.. I got something I didn't pay for.." had some guys come outside to look at it and I just go like, "So? What's the deal? I'm just here to get what I pay for." Took 3-4 hours, dude took the whole dash apart again, bonded the dash back together, and even made a custom bracket cause I guess they don't make the brackets for the 5th gen that fit my unit and now it sits closer to me (which makes it look better). All of this - free (why else would I pay retail? Besides, a little hustle always helps considering the fact that I dropped quite a bit of $$ at their shop).

I just don't want you to get got man. My boy element600rr bent his rim, but it was pretty much the city's fault for having like a 3-4" drop on the road with a single unlit cone that didn't even emphasize the work being done on the road. Homeboy called up his insurance and got his $$.

Don't let 'em get you man.

I appreciate the words of wisdom man, but the shop didn't charge anything and they told crackme before I gave it to them that there could be a chance the rim would b so I wasn't really "shocked" when they said it cracked. As for you LCD, that sounds like one hell of a deal man, you sound the "DA MAN" lol

As for the rims, they are Enkei Klamps.
