Need new headlights .

So my headlights are pretty dead, the housing is quite oxidized and I was planning on going with HID or angel eyes for my 99' red lude. I was looking at these from carid any oponions ? SPEC-DŽ - Honda Prelude 1997-2001 Black CCFL Halo Projector Headlights

As much as I am going to get flamed myself, I also like the halo lights. If you do, I would suggest getting the ones with CFL halo rings. They are a lot nicer.

Re: Need new headlights .

Are they easy to install? I don't have a lot of experience with car electrical, if possible I would like to do them myself to know what's going on with them if an issue should arise. But if professional; installation is recommended then I'd go that route.

Re: Need new headlights .

I agree the CFL halo rings would look sick!! I found a thread DIY/Writeup for 5th Gen Headlight Swap/Install seems like a lot of work, but it`s relatively straight forward

The retro fits will focus the light rather then scatter it everywhere correct? And any reputable source to get those from?

Honestly, you will need to take down your front bumper in order to change the headlights so I am waiting till I have everything ready. In the mean time maybe you can order an HID kit so you can at lease have the light for now. I just ordered a set with 6000K bulbs today. Can't see why anyone would want higher/purple lights LOL. In my town it's just asking for a ticket.

Re: Need new headlights .

Yea, I live in Seattle and SPD hate anyone who drives with aftermarket lights or odd colors. I would do purple or brighter blue on the high beams. As for taking the bumper off it sounds like a bit of work. Is there a manual you guys would recommend for this type of stuff?

Re: Need new headlights .

I use to have those halo lights, they came with the car and the rings on my passenger side were already out. I liked the look at first but it slowly got tired of the look and went with some black housed depo's. If you have the cash go retrofits but my money is needed elsewhere rather then into some headlights. The wiring seemed to be plug n play, it comes with a ballast on each side about 3 wires going through it connected to the light itself, low/high beem plugs right up to the oem wiring, and the little LED's on the bottom connect to the parking light socket, you have to unplug the twist and lock base then plug the connector into the light.

Re: Need new headlights .

To install it, you just have to get the side loose and take out the grill. You don't have to take the bumper off. I've got pictures of my install on my MR thread if you need them.

Re: Need new headlights .

^I was able to remove and install my sisters lights in her Civic without removing the bumper . I think it's a little easier to remove the bumper but also adds more work though. I remove mine so I could take out my resonator and control valve.

Re: Need new headlights .

Do you want people to ignore your car? call you ricer? make jokes about your car? etc....

Besides them all it will make your car uglier.

Just get your self a Depo headlights with black housing + HID. or if you can afford to get yourself made a retros then go with that.

Re: Need new headlights .

Get depo halos or the original but with the black housing. If you can afford retrofitting you can go that route. Mine are pretty gone, I`ll probably replace them with black housing depos

I don't agree with the whole ignore your car call you a ricer make jokes stuff. I've seen some really nice built Preludes with the halo lights. Some people just like the black housing or look, I wouldn't base someone's car off their headlights.

Lets speak the truth now.

I agree that there been one point back in days that people liked halo headlights, bodykits, alteza taillight and on and on.

Today many people don't look at them like they did back then. many people will now call you ricer, unless you have some unique built under the hood that will cover the your halos. and plus it doesn't give any good look to your prelude but makes it look ugly.
