Power Lock Issues

Alright so i dug around the forums for a bit but somehow everyone has either issues with remote unlocking or keys. i do apologize if i missed the thread for it while skimming through various posts.

Heres my senario

1999 Honda Prelude Base (auto)

The doors wont lock or unlock with the button when pressed it will make the noise like it is about to turn over but it wont do anything. I haven't taken apart the door i wanted to see if this was something a fuse can be fixed with or there's something more to be done than this. if there is a fuse where might it be located under the driver or in the engine compartment or hidden in some remote place in the dash.

i usually just have to manually open (which isnt a life threatening issue) but i would like to see if somehow its a simple fix to obtain.

Thanks for any help :D

-Kevin

Re: Power Lock Issues

Sorry for the bump but I have this same problem with a life I just bought. Did you ever solve this problem?

Re: Power Lock Issues

Mine didn't work when I first got the car. Clicking sound but no locky.

I removed the door panel using a door panel remover tool and a phillips screwdriver. Sprayed all the moving parts and viola...problem solved.
Ya gotta remove the door speaker cover first, then 3 screws. Other than that just pop the 6 or so plastic keepers at the bottom of the door, about 3 or so phillips screws at various locations on the panel and pry upwards to unlock the top portion from the window channel. May have to remove a triangle shaped mirror mount hardware cover, I forget....
Then unplug the wire harnesses if you want the panel free and clear away from your work. If not, a stool or something about the height of the bottom of your door to hold the panel. Hardest parts imo are unplugging the window switch and getting the panel back into the window channel when putting it back.

Then one day, no click. Broken wire in the clip where it enters the door. No driver door speaker either. I lived with it until the mirrors quit adjusting then set about repairing 7 broken wires in that clip.

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.
