no wire for the door switch

i noticed that my interior lights dont come on when i open my door and i can rool up the windows after i removed the key and opened the door. when i went to inspect the switch i couldnt find the wire. i removed the panel looked around and nothing. can anybody tell me or show me a picture of where the wire should be coming from so i can find it or make a new one?

Re: no wire for the door switch

I don't think you can roll the windows up once you've removed the key and opened the door.

There's a short time you can after the key is removed and the door is closed - but not after you open it.

Or at least that's how it is in my car.

Re: no wire for the door switch

If you disconnect the door switch...like i did.....it will think the door is closed even when it's open and will let you work the windows for a lil while.....you might have to reach down in the door with one of those grabber things to try and grab it.

Re: no wire for the door switch

yes. the car always thinks the door is closed. that is why i can roll up the windows after i open the door. the wire for the door switch is nowhere to be found. i believe i will need to wire in another one but i need to track it back to the nearest source. does anyone know if i can wire it up to the passenger door switch?

Re: no wire for the door switch

The door switch is the rubber enclosed button in the door jam - on the actual car not the door. If that's loose or MIA - it'll do that. If that's what you're referring to - just fish another one in and pull up the door sill and trim around the seatbelt to look for a cut/broken wire.

Re: no wire for the door switch

I highly doubt that the previous owner removed the wire....probably just did what i did and un plugged it. it falls down in the door so it's hard to see/find....gotta get one of those flexible grabber things. i'd almost be willing to bet it's there.

That's why I suggested tracing it out - and told you what panels to remove since you seem to be so thick headed...
