If you have used Seafoam please read...

Quick question (yes I went searching for the
past 3 hours didn't find my answer)

Has anyone with a high mileage H22...
160,000+ miles used seafoam right before
an oil change. I have read don't do it, I
have read go for it but I am looking to see
if anyone with actual experience has had
any issues and what not.

Thanks!

Re: If you have used Seafoam please read...

I've done it on a 190,000 F series in an Accord.

And a 135,000 H22 Prelude

no issues with either.

I've used it on my H23 and had no problems. It's a great all around cleaner, vacuum lines, gas tank, crankcase. I love that s**t lol

Add me to the list. I used it around 130k on my H22a when the engine was stock. I'm boosted now and still running strong.

Re: If you have used Seafoam please read...

I've read great reviews on it. While I can't speak on what I don't know, I do know that it's imperative that you do it right before changing your oil.

Re: If you have used Seafoam please read...

On my Xterra which is up to 145Kmi, I'll put some into the oil and run it for about ~300 miles before changing the oil. Sometimes I'll do that with Mystery Oil too, though with that one they say to put it in during the oil change in place of a quart of oil.

On the Prelude, I've only ever sucked it in through the brake booster vacuum line to try to get it through the IM thoroughly to loosen any gunk it's sucked in through that line that goes from the valve cover to the intake tube. The pic I've attached shows what loosens, and that's why you change your oil pretty soon after.

EDIT: My prelude only had about 120Kmi when I took these pics, and that was after 2 or 3 Seafoams over the course of ~10K miles. So if you've never done it and have 160,000mi.........

Re: If you have used Seafoam please read...

Seafoam, I put that SH*T in EVERYTHING.

On a more serious note, I've used in many friend's cars, and in all three of my own. It works wonders, honestly. My 99 has 180,000 and loved it, shortly after I switched to Amsoil, and it's been running beautifully ever since.
