Got the Lude back today.

I finally got my Lude back. after like 3 weeks at the shop and lots of hassle she's finally home. I talked to the tech at the garage and he said apparently the new distributor was faulty so he got another one and installed it and she ran great. I drove about ten miles and then got a crankshaft position code and it wouldn't let me go above 3k. stopped by advanced auto and cleared the code then it ran fine. i guess i'm just going to keep clearing it when it pops up. there's no way to fix it before the honda meet in Virginia saturday. So nice to have the Lude back in the driveway tho.

Nice! There's nothin worse than looking out in the driveway at an empty space!

But why is it throwing that code? Is driving it gonna make things worse?

Re: Got the Lude back today.

I'm not sure why it's throwing it but i hope driving it won't hurt. i'm determined to go to Virginia for the honda meet and it's about 400 miles. i think it i just cruise at about 55 i shouldn't have any problems

Re: Got the Lude back today.

The two times i received that code once on two of my preludes, I had to replace the distributor. That was the only way. If it continues then you have to check the wiring to the distributor to find the fault with a multimeter.

Do you know exactly what the code # is that you're throwing? If we knew that, we could possibly help you out more with troubleshooting. The FSM gives you good walk-throughs in troubleshooting every code.

Re: Got the Lude back today.

Hopefully it's not your crank sensor going bad. Really not the best idea to continuously reset the ECU so it drives fine for a few miles :/

Have a safe trip to VA - the VAPOA crew is full of friendly 'luders, i'll tip them off that you're going lol

Re: Got the Lude back today.

Yeah i can't wait to go and see some nice Ludes even though i won't have mine. I'm riding down in my sister's integra.....i hate her car....it rides like a tank. i think it is the sensor shot. Dealer wants 280 for the part then 6-8 hours labor. through some connections i found a Honda master tech who luckily is a prelude freak who will do it for 150 and i found the sensor online for 150

See what you get for being patient and searching. Good job!
