looking for tips/guides/things I should know when installing an aftermarket HU

98' SH.

I'm still running the stock head unit and I hate it when it skips cause of little bumps on the road.

I'm currently looking at this head unit
AVH-P1400DVD - NEW! - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 5.8" Widescreen Touch Display and USB Direct Control for iPodŽ/iPhoneŽ | Pioneer Electronics USA

this wiring harness
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-70-1720-...pr_product_top

and this trim kit
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-95-7801-...ude+double+din

I'm hoping that's everything I need for the install? I read a little about the acoustic feedback system..is that going to give me any probems when trying to install this? Do I just get rid of it altogether

do I need any additional speaker wire?

do I need any additional equiptment/or do you guys have any other recommendations other than metra? I noticed the trim kit got some pretty crappy reviews.

Thanks guys, wanna plan ahead and I know yall know your ludes!

I would check out Crutchfield.com all you have to do is put in your car info any they will tell you what will and what will not fit in your car. also when you buy a HU they will give you a wiring harness and a mounting kit all for free. They also give you a guide on how to remove the stock HU. I buy all my stuff from there. Its a bit more than amazon but wonderful customer service and free shipping, you cant beat it!

the radio is a double din so I dont think you need the kit for it, if it was a single din then yes. you should be fine on wires no extra stuff needed. just watch up the colors from the new radio to the harness, plug and check it out

idk if you are dead set on that unit, but you may wanna check out the jensen vm9424bt, I'm pretty sure it has more features than that one and a bigger screen and if i remember right it is only like $50 more. And yea you don't need that extra stuff like the wire harness and trim kit, just find the wiring diagram for our cars and match up all the wires to the new unit. as far as the trim that model i mentioned will fit right in there and it comes with a piece of trim to go around the outside.

In response to wiring, yes delete the feedback unit under the rear deck. You can use the same wires already in the car. I have an aftermarket deck and speakers. Just remember that the wires currently going to the stock speakers are not the same color codes as the wires going to the deck. The wires from the deck go to the stock amp and then different wires from the amp to the speakers. Cut the wires matching the ones coming out of the deck at the input to the amp in the back. Make sense? OR you can rewire.
