hey everyone, like the title says i was driving around when outa no where there was a bunch of smoke coming out of my hood when i pulled over i saw my upper rad hose had blown.

so i replaced the hose, but my question is, there are sharp bends in the hose. should i just leave it? or did i install it wrong? any advise?

Is that a direct upper radiator hose replacement, or just some radiator hose that you cut to fit and put clamps on? It may be ok as a band-aid, but get a direct replacement ASAP.

Re: Rad Hose Exploded! need some help!!

Yea the straight end going into the rad looks 2-3 inches longer than the first one. I would undo the hose @ the rad, just LAY the hose on top of the rad inlet, and when looking at the hose from the top, if the hose lines up with the inlet of the rad without any kinks like the second picture, I would simply cut the hose how ever much is hanging off.

That definitely looks like a problem down the road, replace it with the correct hose!

i would cut it, i had the same thing happen to me and my replacement hose looked like your replacement. i put the old one on top of it and trimmed off the excess. no problems since and that was just about 2 years ago

Re: Rad Hose Exploded! need some help!!

yep just happened me a month ago... I go to a local shop and sold me one for accord 94-97 and acura cl 97-00. I put in and just like yours jeje.. Go to the shop and explained that need to be cut like 3 inches... so I do it and looks like new.. I recommend replace the lower hose too before end up like the other one GL

That's for the advise everyone, I ended up cutting it but it still didn't look right, so I took it back to the store and got a hose that has a coil inside of it to prevent bending. Just worried that the metal coil inside might rust...I'll post a pic soon! Happy to be driving her again :D
