Transmission codes

I just got my Fifth Gen together that is going to be my dad's DD. It starts fine and runs good, but it is throwing two codes and not going into sport shift mode. It also seems to not want to shift into first.

The codes are P0700 and P1705. I know both are transmission codes and neither seem to have much info on them when I pull up them on google. I'm just wondering where I should start....

Re: Transmission codes

With a 5spd swap.

Sounds like the auto took it's typical dump.

Re: Transmission codes

Prepare to rebuild the tranny which is a complete waste as it will fail again very shortly or buying a 5spd and selling your current one. Or a 5spd swap. Sucks but mines slipping 1st to 2nd. Just waiting for it to completly fail and 5spd swap is on my way.

Re: Transmission codes

One thing I find weird. The solenoids mounted on a plate type structure on the front of the transmission seem to be ghetto wired in. Only one wire attachig to each.

Re: Transmission codes

Take a picture and post it. I know sometimes taking out the solenoids and cleaning them testing them and replacing them if they don't work can solve some problems.

Re: Transmission codes

Rust city! Lol but you said it was ghetto wired to the plug? Take a pic of that. I would say take it out clean it and test it with ohmmeter. You can buy them cheap online. If you PM me your email I can send you the chapter of the Shop manual that shows you how to test it to see if it's good or not and how to replace it.
