Icon10 Si-R conversion

Ok guys,

I have officially begun to start the conversion from my stock beige/black interior to the Si-R red/black. I have no intention on converting to a right hand drive so I can't exactly buy the red carpet from the Japanese car but will be going with a dye of the current carpet. Can anyone suggest oem style/cut floor mats that come in red and are of good quality? I an going to try and dye mine but even after shampooing them, I am unsure if they are clean enough for the dye to set right.

Also, anyone have a lead on the Japanese cup holder with the spring loaded bar?

I will post pictures of my progress over the next few days. I hope to have the dash, door panels, carpet and headliner done by the weekend. The seats will wait as I am getting either S2000 black/red seats or some decent racing seats. I found an OEM red back seat that I am trying to negotiate on at the moment.

Thanks

Ricebunny

Re: Si-R conversion

I never found a single site that sold carpet for the 5thgen....4 gen down there is 100's but us fifth gens either stick with your oem one or pay 600 plus to get the jdm one.

as for the cup holder they go so fast your best bet is to but the whole center counsel

Re: Si-R conversion

In case you are interested, Honda of El Cerrito here in the SF Bay area can get the black carpet for you though it's close to $600 AFTER the discount they are offering. Fortunately I have the beige one so I can dye it red, if I get the JDM, I believe the dead pedal hole is on the right side.

Re: Si-R conversion

Plenty of ppl have the jdm carpet in their usdm lude. You just gotta cut a couple places and I believe stitch it onto the other side or something like that. I know its been done, just cant exactly remember how

I imagine what you are saying is transplanting the hole? I guess if my dye job does not go as planned, I can at least get an already red carpet.

Thanks

I ordered black...I had to rip out my original when I bought it a year ago because of mold and stains from the previous owner....red is too much for me

Ive been watching this but probably not going to get it

Re: Si-R conversion

I simply like the look of the jdm interior. I in no way can afford to take on such a project at this moment. My plan simply is, give my car the look I want, then as time passes I would like the original door panels, console and rear seats since I am picking up racing seats instead. I finishes dyeing my current console and door panels tonight. Once I get the dash done I will start posting pictures. Sorry if I bothered someone who LOLed at the car with the SiR interior. It's my car and IMO, I am making it the way I want it.

Re: Si-R conversion

Just ordered a pair of jdm door panels from some girl online. DAMN I wish I had seen these before I dyed my door panels (see pic) It would have saved me a lot of work. Any case here are pictures of my current progress. Eventually I hope to have all parts be legit, for now I can hardly wait for my door panels to get here.

www.jdmland.com / icbmotorsports.com: The Best Search Links on the Net (same place) has odd interior/exterior parts - for future reference

Elite JDM (Elite Imports International) has any interior/exterior parts you could want. Just shoot them a call or email.

and as blackbb6 said - quite a few people have done the carpet swap/ full interior.
