want to go turbo

i have a fully built bottom end h22 with closed deck darten sleeve, je pistons eagle rods. stage 3 clutch kit with light weight flywheel..stock head with after market fuel rail. LSD tranny with 500hp axles. less than 5k on engine and less than 30k on tranny. i bought this from a friend for 1000 dollars. he had it set for a 93 civic eg or dc plug and play. at 18psi he said it was at 420hp. i am putting it into my 97 prelude. i want to turbo it and dont know what is a good kit to get. ive dropped alot of money into the car already, and am looking for a kit that is good but not too expensive. any thoughts? and do i need to do anything else to the motor for the turbo?

Re: want to go turbo

you can piece together one for cheap but you cant go cheap on the turbo and/or waste gate. you can go ebay for I.C. piping, Inner-cooler, bov if you'd like, maybe even get a turbo timer or something. but one more thing you cant go cheap on is a method of tuning, either getting a stand alone(which is pricey), getting a piggy back or swapping to obd1 and getting a chipped ecu for a tune.

Also you can check this out So you wanna go turbo huh

Re: want to go turbo

So wait, you said you've "dropped a lot of money in the car so far" as if you've been building said motor, but then you said you bought it from a friend?

Anyway, the key here is research. Read reviews of products before you buy them, join the "Prelude Parts" group on facebook, and keep your eye on the F/S section in several Prelude forums. Don't settle for cheap and make sure you know exactly what you're buying before you buy it. If you go cheap now, it will be much more expensive down the road to replace things that shouldn't have broke in the first place. Good luck, my friend.

Ah....you failed to mention all that stuff. A tip about the money: Don't blow it all in one place, and like i said before: Don't Go Cheap.

agreed x76823483.
I could've afforded to buy absolutely everything I needed for my current engine build all in one shot, but I promised myself to only buy one part per paycheck (every 2 weeks) max, but it's really turned into one part a month. This has tremendously helped me save my money, since I'm lookin into buyin my own place in the next coupla years.

I definitely do not go cheap. look at my album and you will see. i take pride in all my toys. the 96 gsr that i had, i rebuilt the b18c1 and hydrolocked it with less than 3000 miles on it....haha. i was trying to go home and it started to rain on my like crazy, then the manhole covers popped off the roads and i was screwed. blew a hole right through my block with some water....oops. lesson learned, dont drive a lowered car in the rain.

yeah, it was raining so hard that you could see the rain shifting. water was shooting up about 10-15 feet in the air from the manhole's. one car was stuck up to its windshied in water. i did not take that way. so i went home got my truck trhat s liftged 8 inches and went throught he deep parts. there were tons of cars stuck with water up to their windshield, and i just crept by in my truck....haha

I have multiple cars. after i hydrolocked the motor, i got a ride home and got my truck. take a look at all my cars. the only onei do not have right now is the green gsr. thats the one i hydrolocked, then insurance totaled it, then i bought it back and sold it. they totaled it at 5 grand, kbb was like 2100, if they dont make the vcar anymore, they just take estimates off the net on what people are selling them for, and then they give you that.
