Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

I was just wondering if it wears down your tires when you go slide after it rains and the roads are slick?

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

Of course it does but like jaxprelude said don't do it. You got a prelude not a 350z or 240sx. you'll find your self with a smashed up quarter panel in no time.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

I used to go around ripping my ebrake around turns after it rained in my accord all the time! It's f*cking funnnnnnnn as hell. I never noticed any unusual wear as long as the roads are slick.

Would never do that in my lude tho I love her too much

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

Rain or not, you're still not on a perfectly smooth surfaces, your tires are still generating heat, and you're putting friction against the tire's tread pattern...

Yes it will damage your tires, but not as much as you'll damage your car when you loose control of it like a dumbass. Unless you have the money to buy a real drift car and the money to maintain it, don't do anything stupid.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

I was just asking because my friend said that it doesn't wear down your tires. I couldn't find anywhere online that proved to him that it does. But we go sliding in big parking lots and I actually have pretty good control over my car. None of that oversteering, axel-bending bs that most guys do in the rain.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

You'll probably total before you wear out the tires, so keep on drifting that FWD baby!
Last time I did that (by accident), I ended up in the ER.

But hey, catherers are mad fun, you should give 'em a try.

and lol @ McDonalds trays, I should do that. Maybe I'll have better traction on my rear wheels.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

Do it in snow... then hit a stop sign. What happened to me with my prelude lol. Thank god I hit the quater panel that had rust. Gave me a good excuse to do all the body work right after.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

I do it all the time even when I is dry you just have to be careful and if you think that you are about to lose it then stop it then. Soooo much fun.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

Look at all the parents in this thread.

Anytime your skidding on your tires there is going to be a faster wear on them.

Have fun, just be careful.

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

honestly, its probably a good idea you and your buddy do it in parking lots. whenever/if ever you do accidentally lose control while driving, youll have better presence of mind to try to control you car again then if you didnt practice

from personal experience i suggest using 2 treys per rear tire so u can haz moar drift cuz the treys wear through quickly

Re: Does sliding on wet road/parking lot mess up your tires?

Never tried the trays but i did do a ski race once which was crazy fun. haha I'd stick to your parking lots and off the streets. probably less trouble and less chance of messing up your nice Prelude.
