Need new clutch

I need a new clutch because I believe mine is broken and it hasnt been changed in 135k. What do you guys recommend?

I was looking at the ACT clutches, thoughts?

I am going to get the flywheel resurfaced at the same time and maybe new syncros because it grinds sometimes going into 3rd and 4th.

Thanks,

Pete

Re: Need new clutch

Don't go to a higher stage clutch just because you want one. Alot of people make that mistake. if you don't plan on making massive amounts of power then stick with the clutch that should be in there. There was just a thread here about clutches.

Stick with OEM clutch?

I can't seem to find one....

Do you have a link to an OEM clutch?

What about this one:

RAM Automotive 88564 - RAM Premium Replacement Clutch Sets - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I have never heard of this company, but it seems to be just what I am looking for.

Re: Need new clutch

i'm not saying just buy an oem and be done but go with the same style and weight as an oem so your not having a leg workout when shifting.

Re: Need new clutch

As mobsta stated - EXEDY is who makes our OEM clutches.

so an OEM replacemtnt or Exedy stage 1 feel the same.

Re: Need new clutch

cool,
I think it will work well.

I have changed a clutch on some domestic vehicles, but never an import. Will I lose a lot of tranny fluid in the process?

It is suggested that you replace your clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, throw out bearing, and drain the transmission/ fill with fresh fluid all when doing a new clutch install. Just so everything is brand new, and you don't end up having more problems later down the road after you've done majority of the work.

So I would just drain the fluid anyway and put in a fresh refill

You can find all the information on doing a clutch job in the HELMS manual, or in a few write ups around the Prelude forums.

Re: Need new clutch

I personally would suggest a competition stage 1.5, they usually run about $230 and they are better than stock and certainly grab better. If you just want an OE replacement go with sachs. They are sold through oreilly's and the cheapest is $150. My prelude currently has one of these and it works great and grabs good. Also, either get a remanufactured flywheel from either autozone and oreilly instead of resurfacing. If your current flywheel is warped enough resurfacing will do you absolutly no good. Good luck

Re: Need new clutch

Yea, I got the exedy clutch and flywheel.

The master and slave were swapped out not too long ago before I got the car.

What does the tranny take to fill 2.1 qrts? or did I read that wrong?
