Kool Vue exhault too F**kn loud got pulled over.

i recently upgraded the entire exhaust system on my redlude. The muffler is way too loud. A cop gave me a warning thank god ! . this piece of **** muffler has a 3 in ch diameter tip. I have looked everywhere , ebay, local stores and i cannot find a muffler silencer that fits.

does anyone have any ideas on where to find a 3" muffler silencer. i really dont want to undo all my work.

Buy a 4 inch and trim it to fit into a 3in.

Re: Kool Vue exhault too F**kn loud got pulled over.

look up your exhaust online. if they don't sell a silencer for it- you're going to need to make one.

remember, a silencer isn't just a plate with a smaller hole...

Re: Kool Vue exhault too F**kn loud got pulled over.

a muffler can be loud but if it has all the parts in it and al resonators they can't really do anything. I had a exhaust it was a 4" but it was wayy to loud even with silencer i got a warning and a ticket.. But I had no resonators, when you get a real ticket then they will check if you have some or not. How did you install the full system? I thought they only sold the cat back and not the down pipe, headers ect.

This is false.

Most states have a decibel limit for exhaust notes. They can have your exhaust tested to see if it exceeds the state limits. 9/10 police will just issue a citation/ticket or a fix-it ticket. If you're lucky, they will let you off with just a warning with no fines.

A ticket is a ticket. They have that on record in the even you get pulled over again and will know you were already cited for a loud exhaust.

4" exhaust? I'm assuming you mean a 4" exhaust tip. Cops love shiny large exhaust tips. If you actually had a 4" system...well that's just silly

Most aftermarket cat-back systems are 2.3-2.5" in diameter as far as the piping goes.

Anyone can upgrade any part of their system, checking with your local DMV laws, most states will mention that modification to the exhaust is not permitted. It's just not always enforced.

Some cars come without resonators, others come without mufflers. Police usually don't know **** about cars and what's factory/not. The only time you'll have it looked at is if you receive a "fix it ticket". Otherwise it's all an assumption by looking at the muffler and listening to how loud it is, a warning or citation for the noise violation is just standard procedure because of this.

Consider yourself lucky if you reside in a state where there is actually a decibel limit. Here in Ontario, we can get a improper muffler + excessive noise ticket for simply just that - "excessive noise" which is entirely up to the officer's discretion. Both charges are so vague that they are basically broken down into "any officer who hears anything down the street that is above average than that of a stock corolla can be hit with both tickets."

Of course, I'm sure you guys are still hit with tickets of similar nature regardless. But I'd assume your court system would throw these tickets out if the officer didn't do any dB testing, similar to that of slapping someone with a DUI without any sobriety tests/breathalyzer test?

Damn, sorry to hear about those Ontario laws. Out here in Baltimore, we got enough homicide and drug deals that no one even cares how loud your vehicle is, although they might pull you over to check out what kinda stuff you're carrying (most of the time, it's the ghetto civic with the fart cannon on a distribution spree across town)

Re: Kool Vue exhault too F**kn loud got pulled over.

Here in arkansas, we have one that is sorta like ontario. If it isnt factory it is illegal, no modifications whatsoever can be made lol. But that is broken all over the place, most cops dont care as long as your not doing anything stupid and they are not having a bad day.

Both my vehicles have modified exhaust(wifes car is still stock though).

It's always up to the officers discretion. Excessive noise and improper muffler fall under the same category here. A shiny muffler always draws their attention on top of the noise. But you're correct, if they're unable to test for the db limit properly and proceed to issue a fix it ticket or another ticket/citation that we feel like fighting - it's easy enough to go to the DMV and have them test it, go to court and have the ticket thrown out. They would never just "throw it out" without having proof - unfortunately.

Just a little time consuming. But overall beats paying a $200+ fine (because we know they will find other **** wrong)

Ha, I'm not sure if the increased risk of being shot or robbed is worth being hassle-free from cops lol. Generally when I drive to the wealthier areas (pretty much no crime), I'm hassled all the time. When I drive towards the ghetto'er areas, cops don't look at me twice. In fact, I was just pulled over on Thursday with a cop thinking I was some sort of a gangster simply due to driving a modified car.

That's a ****ty deal. Though I suppose it's pretty much the same here. Stupidly enough, being pulled over with the HFP exhaust (or whatever it's called) on an SI, the BMW performance exhaust on 3 series, or the IS-F package on a IS250/350, etc. occurs as well. Naturally, the drivers notify the officer that their exhaust is factory, but, again, anything louder than the OEM exhaust from a Corolla is unacceptable according to our laws. Hello Harleys???

That's good you have a fighting chance (and a good one at that without any proper testing) to fight off such BS tickets. Unfortunately, with such BS tickets given with the idea of "guilty until proven innocent," ppl with modified cars in Ontario are forced to act extra cordial and respectful to officers at all times unless you want a bunch of dumb BS tickets thrown at you. Cop who pulled me over on Thursday didn't even provide me a reason as to why he pulled me over. I would've questioned him, as it is my right to know what grounds he's stopping me on, but guaranteed I'd be trying to fight off AT LEAST $200 worth of tickets right now if I did.

Fortunately, most stops I've had with police have been quite positive so far. Though it is quite annoying seeing that blue and red flash in my rear-view mirror lol. See a cop and drive normal 10+ over, get pulled over for speeding. See a cop and drive extra cautious and slow (and quietly lol), get pulled over for driving suspiciously. Do we ever get a break??
