check engine light that throws 6 different codes

My check engine light came on today and I went to get it checked it out. I got 6 different codes all at the same time. The codes are: EGR VALVE lift insufficient, A/F sensor 1 response malfunction, misfire in cylinder #1, misfire in cylinder #2, random cylinder misfire and lastly EGR insufficient flow. How can all of these happen at the same time and how can I fix them all quickly?

Re: check engine light that throws 6 different codes

Clean your EGR ports and EGR valve. That will clear at least 3-4 of those codes.

Re: check engine light that throws 6 different codes

Problem is the engine we have was designed for obd 1 so when they converted to obd 2 it made it so if there is one system malfunction can throw codes for a few different things. Wing is right tho.

Thanks for the help. How do you clean the EGR and ports?

Re: check engine light that throws 6 different codes

There are two options to do the ports -

pick up the new plugs from honda (6 in all i believe)

remove the intake manifold, use a tap and slide hammer to carefully remove the ports, clean out with a wire + carb cleaner - install new caps

or do it while the intake manifold is on the car, and be careful you do not drop any metal shavings into the holes when removing the plugs. clean with a wire and carb cleaner, install new caps.

there's also a method involving a drill, strong screw and a hammer to pry the plugs out - must be VERY careful with that method because the screws can break (you don't want to screw all the way though either) and you don't want to knock a sensor or anything.

there are a few writeups out there and some videos if i'm not mistaken. if you don't feel comfortable doing it - take it to a stealership and expect a large bill

A clogged EGR port and valve will cause the misfires. Remove your IM, and as the members stated above, clean the ports and exhaust port very well, and it should fix the issues.

Just to clarify - The actual ports on the intake manifold and header or on the actual head do not need to be touched.

The EGR ports are little round metal plugs on top of the intake manifold, beneath the fuel rail.
