may need a new distributor

does anyone know for sure if an SH dizzy will work on a base model? i need a new distributor and know of a working one from a wrecked sh

Only difference I saw when I was looking for one is the bottom hole on a base is adjustable for advancing timing but on the sh distributor it isn't other then that they are identical. all internals are the same wiring is also the same I dont think you would have a problem but thats just my observation, I have both.

Not to steal your thread but is the ICM Replaceable or do you need a new distributor? Does anyone know?

I was getting at i'm getting my car fixed and the mechanic said you can't replace just the icm because it's rivited in and i must replace the whole distributor. $275 for new distributor

if your talking about the ignition coil module Ive replaced that 2 times already, no rivets holding it in all you need is a Philips

got one at autozone for like $60 or so I dont remember now I just take them out of every distributor I find just for back up or for people needing them

I agree, phillips only... I've change my icm this week cause of a jumping tach, all good now

would the ICM cause it to run perfect on cold startup, then start bogging and only allowing up to 3k rpm after it starts heating up due to operation? since 3k is when ignition timing changes and i've found ICMs to cause many a shutdown in domestic vehicles.

asking cuz mine have been giving me crap since this past wednesday and i need to get this figured out.
