SRI To CAI

Hi,

So yeah, I bought my car 2 years ago with a SRI then I decided to grab a K&N filter for it. As I had to drive it for winter, I left the SRI. Although, I just dropped it this summer, so I won't be using it for winter anymore ( ****ty roads here anyways). I was looking on ebay for some CAI and found this extension for the SRI.

Injen Cold Air Intake Extension 1997-2001 Honda Prelude 2.2L Polished EIS1720P | eBay

Would that work on my SRI? ( Using ebay one right now). It says "require P/N IS1720 Injen Air Intake.

Thanks

Re: SRI To CAI

I don't see why it wouldnt work, but unless you're totally flat broke, why not just invest in a CAI? very illiterate here, but isn't short rams what kids slap on their civics and call cold air intakes? Aren't Short Rams the "cheaper alternative" to a legit CAI?
Totally talking smoke out my ass, I don't really know.

Re: SRI To CAI

I'm not broke but buying that would save me at least 150$ easily. If it's the same performance, I don't see why I would get an AEM intake.

Re: SRI To CAI

All I would be ire of is if it will be long enough and the right bends to attach to your current SRI.

Never go by just a photo on Ebay - half of the time they are not the correct photo to the product you are in search of. Confirm from the seller if that is indeed the correct photo.

Otherwise, nearly all SRI's are cut to the same length, so I don't see why it wouldn't work to be honest.

And you can probably just get a whole CAI for around 45-60 canadian. A CAI is a CAI to me.

Re: SRI To CAI

Link for anything at that price? Cheapest CAI I've found is 63$ on ebay, shipping included. I sent a PM to the seller as well, waiting to get an answer.

Re: SRI To CAI

My buddy bought bends and piping from Pep Boys and made it work in his Prelude when he still had it. I always questioned the airflow, but either way, he got it stuck down in the fender pretty well. He did, however, have to cut some of the metal off around the duct into the fender well because it's oval, not circular. So whatever you buy, you either wanna make sure it fits through the duct, or cut it into a circle yourself.

Re: SRI To CAI

^^Good idea. if i ever upgrade to a CAI i'm going to slice open some old Vac line to run around the edges of the hole to reduce my intake getting scrathed up. Defintly make sure it's the right picture for what your doing.

Re: SRI To CAI

K&N's Typhoon Air Intake system is both a CAI and SAI...you get parts for both in the box. I would definitely recommend it.
