How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Sup guys,

if you guys don't mind me asking, how much did you guys spend on your exhaust? I was supposed to get one put on after the engine swap and get a hell of a price on it but it ended up not fitting so now I have to purchase one full price. I want either Skunk2 or N1 but my parents are saying I'm crazy if I spend that much money on just an "exhaust." My dad went on Ebay and found a couple for a little over $100. I wouldn't mind buying it but I just don't want it to sound like complete crap. I would rather want quality sound rather than just being loud like a fart can (no offense to anyone).

For example my dad found this: STAINLESS STEEL CATBACK CAT BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM 97-01 HONDA PRELUDE BB6 4" TIP | eBay

Any input?

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Isn't 4" excessively large for our cars? Are you looking for just a muffler tip for a bit of noise or a full catback? I have a 2.25" piping and 2.5" tip (I think) 5zigen catback and I love it. It's loud but deep and not raspy. But a little over $100 is a big difference from a ~$500 name-brand catback lol.

If you have the extra money and plan to keep the car for a while, then may as well get a nice sounding exhaust. Enjoy that sound every single you're driving lol. Plus you can always youtube sound clips of aftermarket exhausts to get the exact sound you like.

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Don't buy eBay exhaust, it will rust in no time sound like pure **** and fitment is most likely crap.
Just keep your eye out on ebay for exhausts like skunk2 and the ones your looking for or craigslist.

I have to admit that Kteller exhaust kit is awesome!!! $215 for the piping $120 for the vibrant muffler and $50 for the test pipe....all you would need to do is get the O2 sensors to read clean and away you go!

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Save your money and get something that you'll be happy with in the long run. If you settle for cheap ebay knock offs you will eventually find out later that you should have just saved your money and got quality. I have taken a few friends for rides in my cars and afterwards they wish they had spent their money more wisely. I also found out the hard way. Your choice, choose well!

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Hytech rep header was 300$
My exhaust is Fujitsubo Legalis R. Cost me 570$ from Evasive motorsports.

May do a test pipe in the future to be just a little louder. But I love it!

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

The shop I normally go to for all my exhaust stuff quoted me $115 for 2.5" piping installed, and removing my cat. I'm providing my own muffler though. Probably getting a Vibrant which is around a $100. So looking at around $215 all together.

Save up and look around craiglist or locally. I got very lucky on my Greddy catback exhaust. Before I used to have a Mitsubishi exhaust?! Weird ****. I bought the car and that's what it came with, it was just welded on.

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Definitely don't go cheap because you get what you pay for. I've just got a Flowmaster on right now and its noticeable, but its a little quiet for me, so I might try to either save up during the year at school and get myself a new exhaust for christmas, or I might do a straight pipe later on this summer. Check MR threads, youtube videos, and when you go to meets, if there's something you really like the sound of, ask them the brand of their exhaust. Given, that particular ride might be built and have a good bit more than an exhaust, but it's worth asking. 3" is as big as you'll need. 4 is just excessive and will be referred to as a fart can

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

I paid $117. The exhaust you put a link to is the exact one i have. got all the bolt and gaskets with it. it doesn't sound like a fart can at all. It's a nice deeper tone....a little raspy till the car warms up tho...only bout a minute. Mine fit percetly and i didn't have any problems....i'm not sure if you had an intake but when you hit V-Tec the exhaust goes quite and all you can hear is the intake sucking in air.

I paid $80 for 2.5 inch exhaust and $20 for a greddy evo2 muffler. You can get custom piping from a muffler shop for a decent price.

Yeah...my intake is an ebay special too. haha but when i hit V-Tec my intake is louder than the exhuast is. which i don't understand because the exhuast is pretty loud. there is a insert that goes in the muffler that makes more backpressure and makes it quiter but i never put it in.

Re: How much did you guys spend on exhaust?

Wait a tic. I was talking to a friend about my exhaust and they said when your not in the car and it hits V-Tec the exhaust is louder than normal but since the engine is making so much noise due to the intake and V-Tec you only hear that and not the exhaust.

You have any pictures with it on the car? And how do you like it? I might just end up getting this for awhile so I don't have to deal with the stock twin tips. You said it has a deeper tone also, what do you mean by that?
