LazyShinobi is on a distinguished road
saving up for a new engine.

so currently saving up for a new engine..currently about 160k on the odo with the check engine light going on and off randomly (supposedly low valve compression).

anyway I live in cali so I guess there are some strict rules on swaps here so i'm not really sure which swaps are possible for me.

I was wondering if theres anything that can give me better gas mileage and at the same time maybe better performance?

are the prices to swap generally much higher than to just buy a new h22a3?

Re: saving up for a new engine.

I'll be buying an F20b when my engine goes. Its only 2L but doesn't have the FRM cylinder walls which lead to burning oil eventually. Its also DOHC Vtec and if its the manual version it has S type cams... They come dirt cheap from japan and I see alot with LSD tranny with them. Really, its up to you. Just look at what other people have done because almost anything you think of, somebody's already done.
