Scion FR-S w/ 01 Prelude

My buddy got his hands on the first FR-S that hit his dealership. I got to take it out for a short spin today and mostly I was impressed.

how can't you like this thing?? atleast give it respect for what they're capable of and the fact that toyota/subaru put out a very reasonably priced car for driving the driving enthusiast.

^ it was a joint collab b/w Subaru and Scion. Basically each company is putting out the same car but with their own badge.

Re: Scion FR-S w/ 01 Prelude

Well technically, it'll always be a Toyota. But we won't mention that Toyota owns 8.7% of Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent company) and possibly more that they have not yet admitted to...

Personally, I can't wait to get the chance to drive one. Might even buy one in a year or two.

with a 12.5:1 compression ratio I wouldn't be to excited about aftermarket stuff without planning on a buttload of money to rework that motor.

Re: Scion FR-S w/ 01 Prelude

have you seen it on the dyno???? check out inside line not impressed with power output. I like the car for what it is but in this time and era we are in it should be more power. hell the s2k is faster and probly faster around the track too... think it should've had more power...

Weak powerplant, Scion interior build quality... reasonably priced? No.

$6k less in 5 years? You have a lot of faith in this holding it's value, don't you?

Re: Scion FR-S w/ 01 Prelude

Subaru comes with leather and tighter suspension. I like the body styling, but you're gonna want to go faster sooner than 36,000 miles. I smell Supra / IS-F swap in it's near future, TRD & STI need to make this car scream.

I'm down for the boxster engine in the BRZ but I've already seen the IS-F swap into one of these... It's to die for. Either way, I'd rather wait for the BRZ STi.

you should check out the TRD FR-S, and as far as I know or from what I have read at least is that the TRD and STI version will be supercharged

I really wanted to get one before I bought my lude. until I found out it was almost entirely suby-Q. If it woulda been all Toyota I woulda bought it.

Re: Scion FR-S w/ 01 Prelude

Come on guys, you're expecting way too much, the motor is a four banger boxer. Toyota makes 100hp/liter at the most with any of their powerful n/a motors. Had it been boosted, they would most likely have made more power. Subaru motors aren't that impressive when they aren't boosted. The 2.0 liters in the impreza make some 140hp and the 2.5 liters from the legacy makes some 170hp. 200hp from this 2 liter is damn impressive.
