Free play on gas pedal?

I was wondering if there should be any free play on the gas pedal? I've tightened the throttle body cable because the cable had a lot of slack and the the gas pedal had quite a bit of free play, not sure how much in measurements it was. I've adjusted it to about half an inch, give or take a little less, of free play on the throttle cable when pulled up and now the gas pedal has no free play at all and a slight thump on the gas pedal the car revs quickly.

Is this right ?

Yeah. just make sure you didn't over tighten it to the point where it's brigning up the idle or opening the throttle plate. You wouldn't believe how many people don't do this to their car. I did it the day i got my Lude.

Yea, that's fine. Like Hunter said just don't over tighten. It really makes the car more responsive!
