Valves

i need a little help-
bought 2000 Prelude that needed work.. ended up having bad valves.. The compression was 20-0-90-0 (maybe not in that order).. regardless I have ordered new gaskets, timing belt, water pump, oem head studs, etc (per mechanic).. now I need to get valves for the machine shop- they said standard size valves will work... this will not have turbo or anything pushing serious HP-
So my question..
they stated I need 8 exhaust valves and 2 intake valves = $144... or I can get my own valves and drop off .. headwork, jetting etc $165 minus valves, valve seals..
looked all over the internet and I found a set of intake & exhaust Ferrea 5000 for $173 free shipping or "Running Strong LLC" valves for $99... has anyone used "Running Strong" valves? or should I just pay the extra $80 since I am btthole deep already..

Second- I got this with giant 18inch wheels wrapped into the fenders.. If I pu smaller wheels will it get me out of the fenders or should I put new springs AND smaller wheels on it? (I do like the look but i cant get a peice of paper between the two)..

thanks

Re: Valves and wheels

I ended buying the Ferrea 5000 - found them for 173 free shipping and Supertech valve seals... Any ideas on the lowering issue? Tires are more thn rubbing and wearing bad on the inside - prbly shot.. What's the best drop (in inches front and rear) so it looks good but doesn't cause issues - if possible please include best wheel size combo .... Thanks for the help

Re: Valves

If your rubbing then i'd get new rims if it is in the budget. i have stock 16 on mine now and a set of 17 that i need tires for. wear on inside means too much negative camber...unless the person before tried to do IMO stupid extreme negative camber crap then your gonna have to get and alignment when you get new rims and tires to prevent that. As far as drop i'm not one to chime in because i don't like dropped cars....Where i live i'd scarp everywhere so i don't like them.

Re: Valves

dropping is all depending on the person. i need to get a camber kit since im so low and i have 18s wrapped on 35 profile tires but i really want 17s n 40-45 series profile tires (more cushion for the pushin)

Re: Valves

Whatever rims you decide to go with just remember. ^^Like he said...The less tire you got the rougher the ride and better chance of a bent rim when you hit a pot hole instead of a popped tire. On a Lude 17's would defintly be the biggest i'd go.

Re: Valves

The 18's are "taco'd" pretty bad- good advice I'll scrap them... I didn't know if the offset would help me come further in the wheel well- ill look for 17's and I think I'll get the form to function coil over's SoFlaKidd spoke of - so I can adjust the car down and not rub or blow out a tire. Then get an alignment.
Thanks for all the info.
I'll post pics once I figure out how

Re: Valves

I don't know how bad your rims are but i know you can get them sand blasted and powdercoated for around 250. Some kid will buy them to stick on his Maxima, Altima, grand am, grand prix, monte carlo, impala, rsx, or g6. (the rims should fit all of those if i'm not mistaken, only problem would be the center hole) If they aren't too terrible i'm sure you could sell them to some dumb high school kid. Defintly looking forward to some before and after pics.
