Help With Auto-Manual Conversion

Hello everybody I'm pretty new to the forums but this has been something that has been on my mind ever since i got my car, i hate the fact that its an automatic....litterally the only thing i dislike about the car. So i was wondering if anybody here has experience with the auto to manual 5spd tranny swap and if they could refer me to some help locations or answer some questions such as price if i could do myself, im 16 but pretty handy, and if they know anything really just to help me out, my buddy just got a lude cuz of me and now thats why hes got the pull on me on the streets is because of his 5spd, but yah if you have answers or questions i should really be asking please let me know! thanks lots

Re: Help With Auto-Manual Conversion

Its nice to know that that thread is around to compile the information you need to do the swap. Assuming I don't have someone wreck me, I'm planning on doing this a year or two down the road. Good luck with the swap, OP.

Re: Help With Auto-Manual Conversion

5spd swap, deff a good way to learn about your car doing it yourself. i did mine when i was 18 on my 98 lude. found a crashed donor lude and went from there. best thing to do is save your $$$ so you can buy the complete swap from someone crashed or get the majority of the parts you need at once. if your deff handy and think you can do it yourself, hook up a laptop near where you are going to work on your car and use rompirates thread and go step by step. thats how i did it. it also shows how you can still use your stock auto ecu by modding it a bit. but check the links in my sig, they have all the info you need or any question you may have,answered.... good luck when you do it

full swap should run anywhere between $1000-$1500 in parts, labor is where they get you i know people have gotten charged between $2000-$4000 in labor.. time wise, you can prob knock it out in a day or two if you take a lot of time... otherwise deff in a day. also have your friend help you out an extra set of hands will help a long way.
