No it didn't. The Accord 2-door (which the Prelude chasis is based on) was selling at such huge rates, that Honda didn't see the need to continue making a separate car that people weren't buying anymore. Especially when they could make more money per car on an Accord than they could on a Prelude which had a unique engine and interior that were driving costs up.

The Honda S2000 came out and Honda figured it already had a sports car in its lineup, so it really didn't need the Prelude anymore.

Re: thought you guys might like this info

^agreed plus you could buy a civic si for a lot less and it had a much larger aftermarket support scene than the prelude. Plus the integra and prelude were made at the same time for 15 years.

Re: thought you guys might like this info

things are little bit different here in europe

no accord coupes
no old integra's

so prelude's competitors were civic's and type r integra's
and when type r integras came prelude cancelled after that

Exactly! Honda was just competing against itself. They should have just dropped the Accord coupe(but they knew the Accord's name had a great reputation, so bye bye lude).

On a completely different topic, I have not seen you post in years. How are you man? Still got your prelude?

aw that explained your previous post...
sad but true.. one could argue that there really was no competition for honda but honda which could explain the huge following

If it was rear wheel drive making the power of what the s2k was making there's a good argument we would still have ludes today...

If yours says 250 then yours was the 250th built that year, if my info is correct.

^^ this is true.

there's plenty of info out there on how to read your vin number and what each letter/number means.

I've seen this list posted here and a few other prelude forums before...

I have been a little bit active on here, but I mainly go to PreludeOnline just because I like the format a little bit better than PreludeZone (don't hate!).

I still have the Prelude, but with being married, I don't get to keep adding goodies and doing stuff to it (that much) like I once did. I recently got my valve cover powdercoated a dark bronze color and had two -12AN bungs welded into it. All the letters were shaved off of it and all of the holes were filled in all around the place. It looks pretty good. It's all in an effort to hook up a custom Moroso Oil Breather Kit that will really help my engine get rid of all that crankcase pressure.

I also started to try and do a mild wire tuck and began to primer certain areas in the engine bay in preparation for painting it along with my trunk in the future.

Oh yeah, and I just had twins on April 11 and deployed to Afghanistan one week later, haha.

Holy crap, look at the difference in sales between all the gens!!

1st gen averaged 42K sold
2nd = 66K
3rd = 39K
4th = 19K
5th = 15K

there's the numbers folks. Now everyone can OFFICIALLY say 2nd gens are the best, and 5ths are the worst
