Icon8 F20A4 problem, knocking sound mystery

Hi all,
Prelude fan from Serbia here.
I have a headache with my prelude 5.gen (BB9 chasys, f20a4 engine 133hp non vtec, everything is stock, no modifications ).
I bought it with a light knocking sound...and been driving it like that for almost a year. It runs great, doesnt burn almost any oil 1liter per 10.000km, but the noise annoys me. So I decided to rebuild the engine.
Got everything replaced (pistons and rods, rings, all bearings, got the head done too, replaced all the belts, tighteners and rollers - basically everything I suspected that could slap ), and the knocking remains.

Then, I inspected the camshaft - OK,
the valvetrain also ok, something called engine balancers checked too - the mechanic called it like that, I dont know what that is

So, if anyone has any idea what could be the problem, I would appreciate ahy help...
tnx in advance

M.

Could you post up a video of the noise? That would help us diagnose it a little better.

Hi rell969, thanks for fast reply.

The car is in the shop, and the engine is being disassembled again, looks like the mechanics didn't do their job right.
I hope this time it will be ok, because I am loosing my patience rapidly...but if it doesn't i'll post some video.

Regards,
M.

Have you done a valve lash adjustment?

Yes, the valves have been adjusted, and finally the entire engine head has been replaced, but the knock remains.
i am driving it as it is, until I am financially ready to swap in a new engine. :)
To me, it sounds like the knocking comes from the upper part of the engine block, near the head, but it's just my feeling, not sure it is correct.
It knocks only in idle, when I rev it over 1500 rpm, it doesn't... Anyways, it smells like a new engine...
