Re: New Clutch

It's the TQ you want to worry about with your clutch, not necessarily your HP.

Quoted from another thread of mine...

For my 1995 Honda Prelude H22a1, I plan on increasing my WHP from 150 to
about 220 in the coming weeks. WTQ will increase from 140 to
(Optimistically) 180-190. This is hardly a race build or anything fantastic,
but I don't want to skimp out on a clutch and underestimate what will work
best, so I'm torn between;

-Competition Clutch Stage 1.5 - Gravity Series 1500
and
-Competition Clutch Stage 2 - Street Series 2100

What kind of lifetime can I expect out of either of these? Are either of
them even hardcore enough to have to worry about that? The only reason I ask
is because in our race car we have a Competition stage 5 with an upgraded
pressure plate, that's recommended for 6 months daily driven use before
replacement, which I estimate to be 5-6000 miles. Thanks for your time!

Here was their reply;

Our stage 1.5 is rated to hold 200ftlbs so that should be exactly what you
need. Lifetime on the clutch is not something I can estimate as it will vary
greatly depending on many factors, but generally it should be similar to a
stock setup.

Even though he recommended the Street 1500, I went with the next step up in case I end up doing something later to really push that 200ft/lb limit.

A following quote from that thread;

I put a Centerforce stage II in my Xterra that's still going strong despite me beating the everliving HELL out of it, but comparing the Prelude to my SUV is apples and oranges.

I also chose the stage 2 because of it's carbon/kevlar composition. I plan on beating on it here and there and these materials should stand up to the aggression a little better than organic will, supposedly. Given my low HP expectations, I'm sure the 1.5 would have still been a great chioce though.
