Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

So I was browsing ebay when i came across
this gorgeous lude. Minus it being auto and
what I believe is just a blue VC and not the
H23, I love the car....but am I the only one
that looks at the price and balks?

Re: Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

low miles, straight body, supercharged...

Yeah, i can see it selling for 12k. Although the Auto thing is a big no no - but it'll sell either way.

Hell, my car was 12k with 114k on it back in 09. Thankfully I was able to talk the owner down quite a bit though... ended up getting it for 8.5

Way overpriced even with the amount of miles because it's an auto.

Here's a much better option:

and this:

As the builder, why dump that much money in an automatic car?

Re: Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

Yea…Supercharge? On an auto? Heck no. Plus those Taillights. Plus the sticker that makes it look like he wants to be a civic. Other than that, the car looks fine. I'd pay, oo, 5-6 tops for this car if I was really into it. 5-6 is only for the miles, though.

Re: Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

yea it looks nice and is supercharged, but think of it this way. if its an auto and S/C'd, that poor guy must not even know how to drive a manual, thus has a limited knowledge of how cars work. and because it auto, he cant really tune it properly.... so there must be quite a bit wrong with it. cuz if he/she had ALL that money for all that work, 5spd swap should have been priority one. u can buy a nice lude right now, 5th gen for around 4.5k, buy a supercharger, ~2k. with install and tune u could have BETTER FASTER lude for almost half as much. as for the price, comon guys, we all know type r badges rip holes in our wallets and pockets... :) im a guy who doesnt mind stickers all that much, as long as u actually have what u showing off.... so unless that blue top is an F20B Type R motor, i call BS flag on those stickers.

Re: Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

LOL, why would you do all that to a Lude that's an auto? Make's no sense.

Having said that, I just bought my Lude recently and paid $8500 for it...74k miles but it's super clean. Has no mods expect a crazy nice exhaust. Don't know too much about mods but from what I've been told it wasn't cheap.

I did buy it at a dealership that I worked at for like 4 years so I feel I got the best price for the car. I know they could have got more for it if they sold it to someone else. I probably overpaid but I wanted the car bad. Chances are you're going to overpay for a Prelude. It's a classic case of supply and demand.

Re: Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

This is all directed towards the hate on the auto trans

Despite the 5th gen Auto's are prone to breaking - Usually the cause is from constant use of the SS system. I've seen Auto's last over 100k and not have any issues.

Most high performance cars ARE some form of auto.

Unless there's a known issue with the transmission - what's the big deal? Clearly if it works good enough for the time being, it's going to get used. Nobody knows the background of the car/owner so what's with all the hate?

...for all we know, he could have had the trans rebuilt by level10 but forgot to mention it.

Does this mean I should start bitching about how none of your cars look maintained because your engine bays look like ass - without knowing anything about it's history or you the owners? Doesn't make sense, now does it?

The Prelude community is going downhill fast...

Automatic has a terrible history of being...well terrible. Just because you know of one or a few that haven't had any issues doesn't mean that there isn't a problem. Google it and more then you want to look at pop up as being bad.

As far as having the tranny rebuilt by Level10, for that amount of money I sure it would have been mentioned not that it really makes much difference, it's still auto and still the same tranny just beefed up more.

Would you buy an auto?

The Prelude community isn't going to shi-t, some people are just too sensitive. I've met some really cool people just because of my Prelude in person and on these message boards.

There are a few in every crowd to be honest, the Civic and Integra crowd have far more.

God no, painted CF hood, hmmm bust have been a cheap hood that the enamel started to oxidize and look like ****. My SH is just as clean (I also have all the fake CF interior pieces he dose) but also just as pointless to boost as it is lol The PF01's look so much better on our ludes. but quite simply I would never pay that much for that lude.

So because its an auto, you know that the guy knows nothing about cars at all, that the auto transmission directly relates to AFR, boost levels, et cetera. Also because its an auto, you know he cant work on it, cant tune it, therefore it has detonated several times and blown the engine? I am not trying to be a total troll but some things i see on here blow my mind.

Re: Good looking car but $12K no way....your thoughts?

i wouldnt buy it for one basic reason; he blatantly lies. examplel:
"The H22 Motor puts out 210 HP Stock but this car cranks out 290 HP at 5 PSI of boost thanks to the Jackson Racing super charger under the hood. The super charger can crank out 15 PSI but only 10 PSI is recommend. The Vtec kicks in at 5,800 RPM which combined with the supercharger makes this cars power to weight ratio out of this world!"

there is NO WAY in f*cking hell that that car makes 290hp. kyles 4th gen with the JRSC and meth injection doesnt even make that much, and its a standard. and we all know how bad these autos destroy your hp. stock 5th gen autos dyno at like 120hp. and even if he only means to the crank, hes definitely trying to trick people, and for that hes a d bag

AW geez. I WAS going to avoid this thread, but people be bashing auto's up in here.

Ever hear of a high stall torque converter? Used on MANY automatics with a build so you et more punch from every shift. You can PROGRAM Shift points so you don't need the SS. S/C-ers run on the Belt of the motor so the power is Predictable, even for automatics, Again, Programing a Basemap. Last time I checked, no 6 or 7 speed MANUAL R35 yet.

The "fluff" in that Auction Nauseates me. No dyno (huge factor to prove some tuning), Fake Tail lights, He's making you pay for 80HP, IF, and aside from these things, this list:

Quote:
Jackson Racing Super Charger- $2500
DC ceramic Headers- SO?
Mugen Catback Exhaust- SO?
K&N Racing Cold Air filter- $50
Vis Carbon Fiber hood- (custom painted Electron Blue on top)- crap
Spyder Chrome CCFL Halo Projector head lights- NO factory-crap
Spyder Black Euro tail lights- crap
Type M Full Body Kit- crap
Optima Yellow top battery- $189
Wired by Kicker [with audio and video hooks up] SO?
Work Wheels (Emotion CR Kai) 17 x 8 gunmetal gray
KYB shocks and Honda springs both OEM (Installed) stock, so?
Mugen Aluminium pedals- rubber needed replacement
MoMo shift knob- WHY?
Pillar pod with Boost Gauge and Transmission Temp gauge. (Temp Gauge not hooked up) CRAPCRAPCRAP!!!!
Clear side markers
After market fog lamps- OEM must be too much
Carbon-fiber Gauge cluster- So?
Carbon-fiber center console- came in a kit
Carbon-fiber Di-Noc trim on interior doors, fuel door, external door handles (removable if it is not your style)- It isnt.
Type-R Decals (removable if it is not your style )- defintely isn't

RIMS,SUPERCHARGER,BATTERY. If the owner includes the oem parts, It might be worth 9K. Not even worth 7K. Let the flaming begin.
