Engine Swaps: what engines fit?

I have a mostly stock lude (air intake & exhaust) and i am planning to buy an engine, rebuild the engine with aftermarket parts, and nd then eventually drop the engine in my prelude. The only problem is that I'm curious what engines are compatible. the only one i know of is the F22C (s2000 engine) but is that the fastest compatible swap possible? Out of Nissan & Honda, what is a good choice? I'm not exactly sure how the tranny works with an engine swap (never done one before) does the new engine have to fit the old tranny or do you have to swap in an engine AND tranny that fits the body of the lude? thanks!

Re: Engine Swaps: what engines fit?

I can throw $5k on an engine, more if i have to... money really isn't an issue because my only bills are electric & car insurance. But i just want a simple easy swap.. moderate at the most. I don't want to have to fabricate a ton and all that just to make an engine fit.

Re: Engine Swaps: what engines fit?

Simple drop in's will be something like the non vtec F22A and H23A. Some slight modifications to fit in the F22B H22A1, H22A4, H22A and other H22's since you gotta change clusters and computer to adapt to the Vtec feature.
Now if you are willing to do a bit more mods then put in a H23 Vtec or F20b a bit more modification but won't to completely tear down the car.
For the biggest HP and Gain and even some better MPG then go with the K engine swap. This require to MAKE yes make new motor mounts, wiring, need a new ECU. Same goes if you plan on putting in a V6 in the car.

Re: Engine Swaps: what engines fit?

I've never seen an F22c in a Prelude....

You must be thinking the older f22's that were found in some 5th gens overseas, 4th gens, and 5th gen accords.

But if I'm mistaken, and someone really has done an F22c swap in A 5TH GEN (i've seen the 3g swap) I wouldn't mind checking out the build, so toss the link up if it's really out there.

Welcome to the site. You need to do a little research before dumping money into a built motor to swap in. There is no correct answer, there is no "best" motor. It's all in how you build it and your future goals for the car.

NO! You have to move the flux capacitor to the back side of the engine or the exhaust manifold will alter its molecular structure!

All kidding aside, Welcome to preludezone, look around, go through our resource guides, ask questions about what you read and we'll definitely help you reach your goals. You of course are brand new, so take your time.

Pictures of your prelude please.

No, you're not missing anything besides a bunch of people throwing out stupid ideas.

It can be converted for fwd, but either way it's a costly conversion.

I was referring to mob5sta about the 2jz. Yeah, that's about as easy as shoving a rotary in there.
