keyless entry questions

I have a 99 prelude that i bought used and it didn't have a keyless entry remote. I have seen some online that can be programed but i dont know if all 99 prelude's came with a keyless remote.

Re: keyless entry questions

I have a 01' Prelude that came with an aftermarket alarm and the key fob no longer works. Can I still get the keyless entry to work? I bought it at an Acura dealership and they said they would order a key fob from Honda but couldn't guarantee it would work due to the aftermarket alarm.

Since it's an aftermarket alarm the oem fob will not have the same frequency. Save yourself the money and skip that headache. Try to find the brain of the alarm and get the serial code and call up the manufacturer. They may be able to help you out better.

Re: keyless entry questions

^The problem is the make of the alarm is Clifford who I believe was bought out. The key fob is so old that they no longer make them so I'm kind of screwed.

Re: keyless entry questions

the Clifford name now belongs to DEI (Directed Electronics)

You would still be better off in the long run writing to DEI (as rell suggested) and let them know what you are looking for.

you should be able to call a honda dealership and give them your vin and they can tell you if it is available. but im pretty sure that all 5th gen's came with a keyless entry. you can get one cheaper though. Majestic Honda - The Internet's #1 Honda Automotive Parts Store is where i got mine cheaper than the dealership sells them. and here is instructions on how to program a stock honda keyless entry http://www.handa-accessories.com/crv/KEYLESSPROG.pdf
