Hello, I'm a new guy with a question

Hey Guys,

I've been lurking around the forums for a couple of month now and I have finally gotten around to making an account! I daily drive a 2001 Base model that I have had it since August of last year. So far I have added an exhaust system(APEXi WS2) and some aftermarket rims(MB Drifters 17') and now I am looking to lower it. I don't want to drop it to the floor, I just want to fill in the gap between the tire and the body. I was looking at getting either the Eibach Pro Kit 4035.140 or the TEIN S TECH SPRINGS SKA30-AUB00 which only brings the car down about an inch and a half. The car has a little over 105k miles on it and I was wondering, if I get the either of these kits do I need to replace the struts? Or would it be fine just adding the springs with the stock struts?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome :) Good to see you joined rather than just stocked preludezone. As for lowering I would definitely recommend struts like koni yellow. Or buy some coilovers That way you can adjust ride height. You could just add springs but it the drop would put more stress on your struts and blow them out quicker.

maybe so but at the same time if you take the time to fully adjust the teins and set it right you will get your moneys worth.

Re: Hello, I'm a new guy with a question

Do you want the drop for looks, or are you planning on tracking your car? If it's just looks then just springs will probably be ok. If you are going to track it, then spend the extra coin on a set of coilovers. Over 90% of the serious Prelude track cars use Koni Yellows (or some other adjustable strut) with a GC coilover sleeve setup - there must be a reason for this. But there are plenty of other good quality setups for similar money, and if you change your priorities around slightly, you might find the Function&Form or the Teins or the JIC Magics are a better fit for your car.

Yea I'm looking into lowering it just for the looks I don't plan on doing any track time. I not really trying to drop it that much I am just looking for the most cost effective way I can fill in the gap in between the body and my tire.

remember that messing with your suspension is always related to ride quality and handling
